| Cunningham, Edith White age 83 of Lenoir City went to her heavenly home Friday, February 1, 2002. She was born August 10, 1918 in Maryville, Tn. Edith graduated from Central High School in 1937. She retired from Blue Diamond Coal Company in 1991. She was a member of Martel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Cunningham; brothers, Robert Levi White and Jack White. | Franklin, Virginia (Tina) age 68 of Lenoir City passed away Sunday, February 3, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Kingston Pike Baptist Church. Tina was retired from Eaton Elementary where she had worked in the cafeteria for 22 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by husband, John Franklin Jr.; infant son, little Joe Franklin; sisters, Ruth Brewer and Jo Malone. | Davis, Harvey Lee age 101, of the Hardin Valley Community, Knoxville, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2002 at his home. Lee was of the Baptist Faith. He was a life long saw miller. | Tuggle, Elba Louise Standifer, age 81, of Lenoir City, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Monday evening, February 4, 2002, at Park West Hospital in Knoxville. Louise was a member of Bay Side Baptist Church in Chattanooga. She was retired from J. C. Penney in Chattanooga after 15 years of service. Louise was a former member of the Garden Club in Chattanooga. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harriett Elizabeth Grigsby and James Ross Standifer; brothers, James and Robert Standifer; sisters, Elizabeth Standifer and Norma Roberts. Survivors: sister, Doris Standifer Caldwell of Lenoir City; nephews, Don Caldwell of Nashville, Dan Caldwell and wife Sissy of Maryville, Jimmy Hazelwood of Chattanooga; niece, Polly Gann of Texas; several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Scarbrough, Elizabeth Pierce
(Betty), age 76 of Knoxville, TN, passed away Tuesday evening February 5, 2002 at St. Mary's Medical Center after a long illness. Betty was a graduate of old Knoxville High School. She later worked for TVA and the University of Tennessee. She was organist at Magnolia Avenue Methodist Church where her husband, Sam Scarbrough, was Choir Director. In 1956 they moved to Virginia and continued in that capacity at First United Methodist Church in Charlottesville,VA and Trinity United Methodist Church in Richmond,VA. In 1966 they moved back to Knoxville to First United Methodist Church. At that time Betty also began teaching music and social studies in the Knox County Schools and finished her career at Farragut Middle School. In 1979, Betty became organist/director at Church of the Savior United Church of Christ. She was an active member of KEA, NEA, Knoxville Choral Society and American Guild of Organists. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel B. Scarbrough; son, Jeffrey Scarbrough; parents, John V. Pierce and Della Smith Pierce. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Jackie Scarbrough of Knoxville; brother, J. Eugene Pierce and his son, Douglas Kyle Pierce both of Colorado. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, February 10, at the Church of the Savior on Weisgarber Road in Knoxville with Rev. John Gill officiating. Betty loved animals and children. | Dulaney, Elizabeth Fitzgerald age 84 of NHC Cavett Hill in Knoxville, formerly of Kingsport and Port Chester NY, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 5, 2002 at Little Creek Nursing Home. Elizabeth was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Farragut and a former member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Kingsport. She was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle in New York. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh H. Dulaney. Ft. Sanders Parkwest Hospital. He was a member of the Little "T"
Rabbit Hunters Club and was an avid sportsman. He was a retired security
guard from Viskase and was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lorene Simpson Lennex and

| Wesson, Catherine age 99 of Lenoir City passed away Saturday, February 9, 2002. Catherine was born October 16, 1902 and was a longtime resident of Lenoir City. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #186 in Lenoir City. Catherine was a member of the Lenoir City Garden Club and Clionian Club. She was active in all until this past year. She had been very ill for the past month. Preceded in death by husbands, Lynn Leon Winfrey and Clyde Wesson. Survived by nephew, Mitchell Joyner; nieces, Madge and Jody Larabee, Ann Winfrey, Mildred Bridge and husband, John of Chicago, Ill., Debby Wade and husband, Harry of Petersburg, Va. and several other nieces and nephews. Hyman, Marshall Leonard age 77 of Farragut, TN, formerly of Rochester, NY and Pittsford, NY, beloved father and grandfather, passed away Monday morning February 11, 2002 at his home. Marshall was born April 12, 1924, in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating H S, and studying one year at City College of New York, entered the Military and served with distinction during WW II. Honorably discharged as 1st Lt, he completed 50 combat missions as a B-24 Co-pilot/Pilot, sharing the cockpit with his life-long devoted friend, Daniel Haiken, also from Brooklyn (now of Arizona) in the 757th Squadron, 459th Bombardment Group (Heavy), 15th Air Force, USAAF, based at Giulia, Italy. Awards included Unit Citation, Air Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster and 3 Battle Stars. After the war, Marshall earned a B S in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1948, and then went to work at NACA (predecessor of NASA) in Cleveland, OH. In 1954 he began a career with Pfaudler Co of Rochester, NY; one of his earliest assignments was (then-classified) research on loan to Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he met and married the former Vera McKinney, and began his family. Moving back to Rochester in late 1957 (and moving the family to Pittsford, NY in 1967), Marshall transferred to Nalge Co (Div. Of Sybron Corp., now Apogent Technology) in 1969, where he worked for 20 years, first as Vice President, then as President, and retiring as Chief Executive Officer in 1989. Served on Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) 1973-1983 (President 1975-1977). In 1996 Marshall moved to Knoxville, TN to be close to his children and grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, David & Ida Brownstein Hyman, brother, Lt. Col. Robert Hyman (USAF, Ret.) and mother-in-law, Florence (McKinney) Hicks. Marshall is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Roger David and Elsa L. Hyman of Powell, TN; daughters, Helen (Hyman) Bethencourt and Janet Louise Hyman, both of Farragut, TN; grandchildren, Anne Marie Bethencourt, Cristina Alicia Hyman, Laura Marie Bethencourt and James Marshall Hyman; sister-in-law, Betty Hyman of New Hampshire; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, G. Frances Sheffield age 89 of Atlanta, GA, passed away Monday, February
11, 2002 in Tennessee where she had been residing in Knoxville for the
last 10 years. Frances was the daughter of Samuel and Minnie Allen
Sheffield of Shellman, GA. She was a member of Wieuca Road Baptist Church
in Atlanta where she was a Sunday School and Pre-School Teacher and a
member of Tri Delta Sorority at Brenau College in Gainesville, GA. She was
preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Brantley Plunkett of
Atlanta, GA. who was a partner with Lamberson, Plunkett, Shirley and
Wooddall Architects; sisters, Mildred Sheffield Ward and Martha Sheffield
Pitman; brothers, John Edgar Sheffield and Allen Sheffield. Frances is
survived by her children, Susan Plunkett O’Shields and husband, Eddie J.

Billy Joe age 65 of Clinton previously of Loudon, passed away Tuesday,
February 12, 2002 at Ft. Sanders Medical Center. Bill was a faithful
member and Deacon of Solid Rock Baptist Church of Powell. Bill played the
guitar and he and his wife, Jerry, were longtime Gospel Singers with the
Harvey’s. He was a truck driver for 36 years and retired from Averitt
Express. He was a member of Avery Masonic Lodge #593 F & AM and the
Order of Eastern Star #188. He was preceded in death by parents, Albert
and Minnie Jo Harvey; grandparents, Sam and Addie McNabb all of Loudon.
Survived by wife of 47 years, Jerline (Jerry) Smith Harvey; three
daughters: Connie Clabough and husband, Steve of Knoxville, Jo Campbell

| Keeler, Mary Kathryn (Peggy) age 88 of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Somerset, PA, and New York City, NY, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2002, at Loving Care Nursing Home. Peggy was a member of the Knoxville Christian Center and was active in the Prayer Line Ministry. She was a gray lady at Canonsburg Hospital in Canonsburg, PA. Peggy was active in the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution. During World War II, she was an employee of the U. S. Postal Service and was given a commendation for her work in Intelligence activities. Peggy was the owner of Spruce Hill Nursery in McMurray, PA for many years, and was an avid gardener and a member of several garden clubs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde P. Keeler and brother, John Phillippi. | Hickman, Grace Kelso Neeley - age 90 of Chattanooga, formerly of Lenoir City passed away Friday, February 22, 2002 at 11:05 p.m.. Grace was born in Bay St. Louis, MS and spent her younger years in D'lo, MS. Following high school and graduation from Southern Miss. College, she went to Oak Ridge, TN where during World War II, she worked as an analyst at K-25 laboratory for Martin Marietta until her retirement in 1974. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur D. (Dolf) Neeley of Kingston and later by her husband William H. (Dub) Hickman of Lenoir City. Grace and Dub resided in Lenoir City (Dixie Lee Junction). Following Dub's death, she remained in Lenoir City where she was active in Central United Methodist Church as a Sunday School Teacher. She was on the Lenoir City Beautification Board and was very active in the Garden Club and Home Demonstration Club. In 1993 she moved to Chattanooga, TN, where she became a member of Brainerd Baptist Church. Grace is survived by her nieces: Nancy Kelso Myers of Chattanooga, TN, Marion McKean of AZ, Flora (Mickey) O'Barr of AZ; nephews, Stephen Kelso of Kingsport, TN and and Lee Evans of West Monroe, LA and many great nieces and nephews.
