Livingston, Robert S. age 87 of Powell, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 6, 2002, at NHC Cavett Hill. Mr. Livingston was born in Summerland, California. He received his bachelors degree from Pomona College and his PHD from the University of California Berkeley. Mr. Livingston moved to Oak Ridge in 1943. During his career, he was Director of the Electronuclear Research Division and a pioneer in cyclotron research and development. He retired in 1982, as Director of Program Planning and Analysis at ORNL. He was a Senior Fellow of the American Physical Society and of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Mr. Livingston was a charter member of Church of the Savior, United Church of Christ, Knoxville. Frank Hicks Evans age 82, died Thursday evening at Durham Regional Hospital after a brief illness.  Born in Lenoir City, TN to the late Charles Robert and Fannie Hambright Evans, Frank lived in Durham for 47 years and was an active and long-time member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the Cornelia Sunday School Class. After graduating from Lenoir City High School, Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corp during WWII.  He received a BA Degree from High Point College and subsequently studied at Duke Divinity School. Frank taught in the Statesville, Hillsborough and Durham Public School Systems for 31 years. He spent 25 of those years at Durham High School as a teacher, football and track coach, dean of boys and assistant principal before his retirement in 1981. A dedicated and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Frank was popular and well respected by the many students he taught and coached during his exemplary career.  He was a man of strong Christian faith who always set an example for those around him.  Accepting credit for his many accomplishments was not Frank’s style.  Instead, in his own modest and humble way, Frank preferred to leave the spotlight to others. Frank is survived by two children, Carolyn Evans-Rose Parker and husband, Wiley, of Wendell; Charles Robert Evans and wife, Annette, of Cary;  three grandchildren, David Rose and wife, Chiyon; and Blaire and Tyler Evans; a close family friend, Staton Strother; and former son-in-law, Randy Rose.   Frank was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Eva Lois Starnes Evans, who died in July 2001. Sullivan, Beverly L. age 70 of the Tellico Village Community in Loudon County, TN passed away March 12 at St. Mary's Select Specialty Hospital. She and her husband John resided in the Village for over 12 years. She attended the Village Community Church. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Lorna and Russell Brockway of Farmington, MI .In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Stephen, James and Lawrence Wahlberg and by stepsons, John, Michael, and David Sullivan, her twin sister Barbara Wozniak and brother-in-law Gene, and brother David and sister-in-law Lillian plus nine grandchildren.
Beverly graduated from Michigan State University and earned a Masters Degree from Wayne State University. She was an elementary school teacher for over 20 years in Dearborn, MI and Fairfax County, VA. Her students (and their parents) loved her as did all who met her, She had an ineffable sweetness that permeated her being. She was very active in community activities over the past decade including teaching GED classes in Lenoir City, TN, working with the book club, the art group, the Village Players, and the Walk and Talk group. Bev was a creative artist, working primarily in water colors. She usually had pictures displayed in the annual art show and the art/music lunch each January. She enjoyed the lake both for swimming and boating. In the early nineties, she helped coordinate the weekly pontoon boat picnics. But in the main, she loved to travel, making over a dozen trips to Europe. She had almost as much fun planning the trips as actually taking them. Mostly she loved life and living in Tellico Village. The people she met here were her friends and she held to them as close as she could. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. March 15 at the Tellico Village Community Church with Rev. Jenkins, Raymond F.(Cokomo) - age 91 of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday morning, March 16, 2002, at the Loudon Health Care Center. Raymond was born September 4, 1910 to George and Annie Hunt Jenkins. He was a retired machinist with Bacon Hosiery Mill and a longtime gunsmith in Lenoir City. He was a lifetime member of NRA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ella Mae Lively. He is survived by his children: Peggy Shubert and husband, Leonard, Shirley Weaver and husband, Doyle and George Jenkins all of Lenoir City; grandchildren: Debbie Clabough of Dalton, Ga., Kathy Helton, Sandra Shubert, Kimberly Weaver and Eddie Weaver all of Lenoir City; eight great grandchildren and five great - great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Sweeney, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) age 78 of Lenoir City, formerly of Thomaston, GA, passed away suddenly Friday afternoon, March 15, 2002, in New York City, NY. Betty was a member of Dixie Lee Baptist Church. She was a member of the local chapter of the AARP, the Loudon County Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. Betty was retired from Lenoir City Schools with 25 years service. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Sue Sweeney; father, Otho Beverly and brother, Billy Beverly. Courtney, Geneva Case age 84 of Knoxville passed away Saturday afternoon, March 16, 2002, at the Farragut Health Care Center. Geneva was retired from the Knox County Property Assessor's Office after 25 years of service. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and past President of the UMW. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence (Pard) Case and Mary Willard Case; sisters, Pauline Case and Blanche Case Scarbrough. Norman, James L., age 56 of Chambersurg, Pa., formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday March 21, 2002 in the Chambersburg Hospital. He is the son of Frances Thompson Norman and the Late Luther Norman. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Master's Degree in Musical Arts. He was employed by the federal government for 30 Years as a computer programmer, retiring from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1999. At the time of his death he was employed by Computer Science Corp. At Letterkenny, Mr. Norman was a great supporter of classical music and was a member of Mensa. In addition to his mother, He is survived by a brother, Stephen E.Norman and wife Gail Cummens Norman of Yuma, AZ; 2 nieces; 1 nephew; 2 great nieces; 1 great nephew; aunt, Mary G. Blake, William Wallace (Bill) age 68 of West Knoxville, passed away Wednesday morning March 27, 2002 at his home. Bill was a member of West Emory Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Michigan State University, retired from Garland Coal Company and a member of the Knoxville Coal Club. He was a long time member of Fox Den County Club, an avid golfer, boater, and a member of Knoxville Power Squadron, Inc. Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Beach, Dr. Charles L. (Lt. General U.S. Army Retired) of Lenoir City passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at his home. Charlie was born in Loudon County to Sola John and Gladys Beach. He graduated from Lenoir City High School, Hiwassee College, University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Mercer University South School of Pharmacy and Nashville School of Law. He was the pharmacist for several area drugstores. He served as Judicial Commissioner for Williamson County. Charlie practiced law as a criminal defense attorney in East Tennessee. He was a former member of Tennessee National Guards having serving in the 278th infantry and the 190th Med Company. He went on to become commander of the Unit in Knoxville on Sutherland Avenue. Charlie was a graduate of the United States Army Special Warfare School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was 32nd degree Mason and a Knight Templar. Charlie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended Bell Avenue Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Jo Beach and Mary Sue Beach Howell; brothers, William Marion (Buddy) Beach, Robert Allen (Bobby) Beach and S. J. Beach; uncles, Reginald Brown and Marion Brown; former wife and mother of his son, Mike, Faye Walker. Reddick, Ralph Gordon of West Knoxville, died peacefully on the evening of March 25th, 2002 with his wife of 35 years, Allene, by his side at his home. Born in Gallatin, TN in 1931, son of James Harris Reddick and Callie Mae Perry Reddick, Ralph moved to Knoxville following his service in the Korean War with the U. S. Air Force. An active member of the Knoxville community for 40 years, he was the former Vice President and Partner of Duchess Beauty Supply, a member of the East Tennessee Dance Club, King Solomon Lodge #94 F&AM, the Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies, and a life member of the Shriners Kerbela Temple. Known as a wise and caring husband and father, Ralph was also an avid bridge player, enthusiastic musician, a natural salesman, and fun-loving friend to many. Ralph is survived by his loving wife Allene Denton Reddick, his children Barry Denton Reddick of Knoxville, Bradley Harris Reddick and wife, Melissa Black Reddick, and grandson Benjamin Wiley Reddick of Boston, MA. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Reddick Ensor of Clarksville, TN, Lucille Reddick Fitzpatrick of Castillion Springs, TN, and brother, Robert Reddick of El Paso, TX. Crispin, Sandra Margaret age 91 of Lenoir City, TN, formerly of Arthur, IL, passed away suddenly Friday morning, March 29, 2002, at Ft. Sanders Park West Hospital. Sandra was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. She was a retired teacher from Arthur Elementary School in Arthur, IL. She served in the Peace Corps in the Fiji Islands for five years. Sandra was an artist and a friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lafayette Henson and Minnie Bollinger Dreisbach Henson; step-mother, Jessie Henson; husband, William Keith Crispin; and son, William David Crispin.
