Button, Lloyd A. age 75 of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN, formerly of Middlesex, NY, passed away Monday, April 8, 2002. Lloyd was former owner of Dudley Poultry, a Middlesex Town Justice, a Fire Chief of the Middlesex Hose Company, and an honorary Deputy Sheriff of Yates County, NY. Liu, Mai Shian age 66 of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Highland Park, IL and Hsin-Chu, Taiwan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning May 5, 2002 at University of Tennessee Memorial Hospital in Knoxville, TN. The journey took Mai as a young peasant girl in rural Taiwan to the some of the most prominent schools of world. She graduated from the National Taiwan University with a B.S. in Pharmacy, earned a M.S. in Pharmacology at the University of Montreal, and a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Chicago. Her endeavors required persistence, hard work, and a fluency in Taiwanese, Japanese, Chinese, French, and English. She was a researcher and an assistant professor at the University of Illinois Medical School for over ten years after earning her doctorate. She resigned from a promising academic career to spend more time with her husband and two young boys. She later retired as a pharmacist from St. Theresa Hospital in Waukegan, IL in 1998 after twenty four years of service. Mai was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cheng-Huey and Mei Yang Su; and sister, Dr. Mei Quey Shih. Bob owned and operated Fine's Electrical and Refrigeration Service in Roane Co. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the 43rd Infantry Division in the U. S. Army. He was well known in his community as a honorable hard worker. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Geiger, Arlene Elizabeth, age 62, of the Lenoir City, Avalon Community, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 14, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born Arlene Elizabeth Naughton on November 20, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Florence (McErlean) Naughton and the late James Naughton. Her childhood and school years were spent in the Chicago area. She was joined in marriage on October 1, 1960, to her high school sweetheart, Edward. Besides Chicago, they made their home in the Cleveland area and the West Bloomfield area of Detroit before moving to Hendersonville, North Carolina. They then moved to Tennessee to retire in the Avalon community. Arlene was a devout Catholic her whole life and most recently was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Farragut. She worked at various part time jobs, although her favorite and most important job was that of mother and homemaker. Arlene is survived by her loving husband, Edward, W. Geiger, 3 daughters and son-in-law, Tracy Lynn Geiger of Phoenix, AZ, Kelly Maureen Geiger of Pensacola, FL, Kimberly Ann and Robert W. Mansfield of Kalamazoo, MI; one grandson, Mitchell Edward Mansfield, sister and brother-in-law, Carl and Maureen Ott of Chicago and one nephew, Jeffrey Ott of FL. Arlene is also survived by her friends from every place she has lived, plus the new friends she made here in the Knoxville area. Barringer, Fred C. age 70 of Knoxville passed away early Saturday morning, May 18, 2002, at the Loudon Health Care Center. Fred was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving the Army. He was a retired draftsman from T. V. A. Fred was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Castro Barringer and Edna Hixon Barringer. Sharp, Walter Edgar - age 86 of Knoxville passed away Saturday, May 18, 2002 at the St. Mary's Medical Center. Walter was a veteran of W. W. II serving in the U. S. Adams, Terry Cleemont, age 75, formerly of St. Charles, Virginia, was called home Sunday, May 19, 2002, in Columbus, Ohio, following an extended illness. Born July 4, 1926, Terry was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, a 32nd Degree Mason and York Rite Temple Shriner, a licensed professional civil engineer, a graduate of St. Charles High School, Ohio University and the University of Tennessee. A proud veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his father, George Edward Adams, mother, Edith G. (Wacks) Adams; sister, Dorothy Adams and brother, Edward G. Adams. In expectation of Christ's return, he joins another sister, Eva Ruth (Adams) Warner and brother, David H. Adams at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. Baughman, May Lawson of Knoxville died Thursday, May 23, 2002 at U T Medical Center. Mrs. Baughman was born May 14, 1908 in Manchester, Massachusetts, the daughter of James and Hannah W. Lawson. She was the widow of S. Milton Baughman. A 1927 graduate of Westerly, Rhode Island High School, she shortly thereafter began a career with Western Union Telegraph Company which spanned 40 years, retiring in 1969 as Manager of the New Canaan, Connecticut office. She was preceded in death by her grandson, David A. Baughman. Mrs. Baughman is survived by two sons, James L. Baughman of Loudon, TN and William S. Baughman of Ridgefield, CT; grandchildren, Peter H. Baughman of Lebanon, CT; David J. Baughman of Waukesha, WI; Robert G. Baughman of Knoxville, TN; Lynda Bauer of Monroe, CT; and William S. Dial, Jean Leisey, age 75, of Farragut passed away May 25, 2002, at Park West Hospital after waging a 34-year battle with a rare form of cancer. She was born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, but lived most of her life in Tennessee where she was active in school, church and community activities. A 45-year resident of Farragut, she was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and the Special Studies Sunday School Class. She was a charter member of the Concord Chapter of the Eastern Star, a long-time member of the Farragut Garden Club, and served in numerous leadership positions in Girl Scouting, including terms as neighborhood chairman and as a troop leader. In addition to her community activities, she enjoyed traveling with her friends and family, visiting all 50 US states and 56 foreign countries. She worked for Delta Air Lines in Atlanta between 1945 and 1949, where she met her husband of 53 years, Ralph E. Dial. She later worked as a customer service agent for Sears. She was preceded in death by her father and mother James H. and Anna Leisey, sister Marian Small of Florida, and brothers Robert, Gilbert and Raymond Sprague, all of Pennsylvania. Her oldest daughter, Cheryl Lynne, died in 1971 at age 18. She is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Dial of Farragut, daughter Kristye Dial of Atlanta, and daughter and son-in-law Robin and Phillip Rawls of Montgomery, Alabama. Grandchildren Gantt Rawls and Leigh Rawls are also of Montgomery.
