Beth was a former member of First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville. She and her husband owned and operated Farrar's Hosiery Store on the square from 1937-1982. | Harris, Ruth Smith age 88, of Farragut, passed away on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2002, at Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield, CA. Born in Farragut in 1914, Ruth was a graduate of Farragut High School and Knoxville Business College. She was employed by the Tennessee Valley Authority from 1939 to 1975 concluding as executive branch secretary for the Maps and Surveys Branch in Chattanooga. She was a life-long member of Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Farragut and a charter member of Fox Den Country Club. She was also a member of the Brainerd Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga. Ruth was preceded in death by husband, Orville Harris; parents, Spencer R. and Annie Boring Smith; brothers, Edward and Russell Smith; sisters, Frances Johnson and Elma Cruse. Hamilton, Judy Faye Donovan, age 58 of Concord, went home to be with the Lord Thursday evening September 12, 2002, at Park West Hospital. Judy was a member of West Park Baptist Church. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. Many sought her out as a consoler and counselor over the years. She was loved and will be missed by all. | Fletcher, Mary Warren of Holly Ridge, N.C. formerly of Lenoir City passed away Friday, September 13, 2002 at her home. She was born November 25, 1929 in Knoxville, daughter of the late Ray McFee Warren and Jamie Claiborne Warren. Two brothers, Ray M. Warren and Don Warren, preceded her in death. Mrs. Fletcher was a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church in Holly Ridge. She was part owner and operator, along with her husband, of Continental Coast Trucking Company. She was also a member and past president of the Pilot Club. Survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles William "Bill" Fletcher; children, Mary Alice "Susie" Strunk and husband, Sandy of Lenoir City, Charles William "Sonny" Fletcher and wife, Brenda Sue of Loudon; brother, Walter Warren of Knoxville, sister, Polly Edgemon of Ft. Morgan, Gillis Lee Sr. age 81 of Lenoir City, went home to be with Jesus, Tuesday, September 17, 2002 after a long battle with heart trouble. Gillis was born March 5, 1921 in Coalfield, Tennessee to William (Bill) and Maggie Hacker Morgan. He was a combat veteran serving in the Army in the South Pacific in W. W. II. On December 21, 1944, he almost lost his life when a Japanese Kamikaze plane hit the LST 460 ship he was fighting on. He was a born again Christian and a former member of the Church of God in Cincinnati, Ohio. Gillis was baptized in the Ohio River in 1960, was an active member in his church where he drove the church bus and he and his wife conducted evening children's church. Gillis retired from Industrial Personnel in Hamilton, Ohio with 30 years service in the Teamster Union and is a member of the Teamster Retiree Club Local 100 in Cincinnati. He moved to Lenoir City after having his first heart attack in 1984. He was a member of Mid Town Church of God in Roane Co. Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, three brothers; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Milas and Mary Ray of Oneida. Survived by his wife, Margery Ray Morgan whom he married on Easter Sunday, April 25, 1943; children, Karen Papania and husband, Joe of Cincinnati, Ohio, Gillis Morgan Jr. and wife, Joy Amos Morgan of Lenoir City, and Judy Mattus and husband, John of Vancouver, Washington; grandchildren, Joe Papania and wife, Martha of Cincinnati, Ohio, Krista Papania of Dallas, Texas and Billy Lambert of Vancouver, Washington; great grandchild, Christopher Papania of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Ruth Huckeby and husband, John of Vermilion, Ohio; special great niece, Mendy Cates of Rockwood; several other nieces and nephews; special Army buddy, William Grover of Marietta, Georgia. Wolfe, Martha Jennette age 66 of 300 North A Street, Lenoir City died 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2002 in an apartment inferno that consumed the entire building. Martha was an upstanding member of Calvary Baptist Church for 7 years, while singing in the church choir. She was also a pillar of the community. Everyone who knew her loved her. Martha was preceded in death by husband, Youree Ralston Wolfe who passed away December 12, 1994; granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Thornton who passed away September 7, 2002; and father, William Homer Park who passed away August 18, 1977. She is survived by her mother, Mary M. Her inability to drive couldn't keep her from embarking on what she called a "beautiful journey" to Arizona for her son's wedding. | Prince, Kenneth W. age 75 of Lenoir City formerly of Pennsylvania passed away Thursday, September 26, 2002 at the Farragut Health Care Center. He was retired from McDonald Douglas in St. Louis, Mo. as an electrical and mechanical engineer. Kenneth loved to travel. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pamela J. Prince; children, Anne Bock of Kutztown, Pa., Derek Prince of Geigertown, Pa., and Nigel Prince of Bernville, Pa.; grandson, Aaron Prince. | Wilmot, Anne L. Conklin age 81 of Lenoir City, passed away Monday, September 23, 2002 at the Farragut Health Care Center. Anne was born June 11, 1921 in Union Grove, New York. She lived in Stamford for most of her life. She and her husband Robert, whom preceded her in death, together operated Hilltop Nursery for many years at Long Ridge Road. After retirement they moved to their home in Walton, New York. The last 3 years she has lived with her daughter in Tennessee. She was preceded in death by husband, Robert H. Wilmot; parents, Rose Ollila Conklin and Norman Conklin; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Howard Osborn; granddaughter, Donna Lynn Moe, brothers, Harry Conklin, Russell, Conklin, Calton Conklin, Charles Conklin; sisters, Jenny Wilmot, Alice Chuddy. | Kirkland, Jeffery Todd age 37 of Knoxville passed away Monday, September 30, 2002 at the Vanderbilt Medical Center. Jeff was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. He was a graduate of Lenoir City High School and University of Tennessee. He was an underwriter for Appalachian Underwriters. Jeff was a sports car enthusiast and loved scuba diving. He was preceded in death by mother, Joy Reynolds Kirkland; grandparents, Sam and Lena Reynolds, James and Mary Kirkland.
