Stewart ,Walter L.
(Buddy) passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2005,
in Lexington, Kentucky. Buddy graduated from Lenoir City High School in
1962. Although he left Lenoir City soon afterwards and spent much of his
professional life in Colorado and New Mexico, he always considered the place
of his birth his true home and wished to be laid to rest here. Buddy
graduated from Berea College in Kentucky with a B.A. in Economics; he earned
the M.A. in Economics from the University of Ohio and the Ph.D. in Economics
from Colorado State University. He was Chief Economist for the U.S. Forest
Service, Southwest Region, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before retiring in
2001. Much of his work in the years before retirement dealt with
environmental impact studies. Old friends from high school days in Lenoir
City will remember with great affection his pugnacious but always engaging
personality, his radio announcing skills at WLIL, and his portrayal of
“Charley’s Aunt” in the senior play. In more recent years, his family and
friends will recall with pride his indomitable will and courage in
recovering from a massive heart attack in 1997. Buddy was preceded in death
by his parents, Alvin J. Stewart and Dorothy U. Stewart, both of Lenoir
City. He is survived by seven siblings and their spouses, all of whom will
sorely miss his lively wit and exuberant zeal for life: James and Alyce
Stewart of Roanoke, Virginia; Barbara and James Posgate of Kerrville, Texas;
Ruth and Joseph Story of Lexington, Kentucky; Linda and Clay Rivers of
Lincoln, Nebraska; Charlayne and Nigel Allan of Davis, California; Kate and
John Johnson of Lexington, Kentucky; Susan and Gus Smith of Guntersville,
Alabama. While he had no children of his own, he was a much-loved and
entertaining “Uncle Bud” to his many nieces and nephews. All of us who knew
and loved him will long remember his perennial high spirits, his generous
nature, and the magnitude of his heart that failed him much too soon. The
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Click Funeral Home in
Lenoir City. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Click
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Seay officiating. Interment will follow
in the Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations
be made to the Dorothy U. Stewart Scholarship Fund at Lenoir City High

Pinkston, Jesse
Lee
age 14 of Knoxville. God came and took his
hand Saturday April 30, 2005 at 3 p.m. Jesse was born August 26, 1990 into
the family of Jim, Kathy, Jake, Josh Pinkston and his meemaw Minta Orange.
Jesse's sweet infectious smile made him no stranger to anyone. Life was a
joy to Jesse as was his many many friends he had and loved. Jesse had the
gift of making friends where ever he was- be it at church, school, ball
games, restaurants, or hospitals. He loved everyone he met and found
something good in everyone. Jesse's family was dear to him, especially his
brothers, Josh, Jake and sister-in-law, Allison. He delighted in being uncle
to Meg, Sam, and Lee, who was his name sake. He enjoyed the wonderful farm
life which included four wheeling, horse back riding, and playing paint ball
with his friends. Another of Jesse's passions was hunting and a highlight
was going on a hunting trip to Africa with his father and brothers last
summer. He also killed his first two turkeys this spring. He was an
accomplished hunter. Jesse's courage was unshakeable through his four open
heart surgeries. Through organ donation, God made it possible for us to
enjoy Jesse for a special 14 years. He would have encouraged everyone to
share the gift of life through organ donation. His unselfish love and faith
in Jesus leave us to know that Jesse is with the Lord. His friends and
family were always welcome at his home. Jesse, "Pinky" was a student in Mr.
D's seventh grade class, in the orange pod at Farragut Middle School. Almost
every weekend, he had friends over to play paint ball. It was his passion.
He was playing with his dear friends, Lee Stanifer, John Hargraves and Billy
Benzer when God called him home. We praise God for the gift of Jesse's life.
Jesse's everyday prayer was, "Let us have a very good day today". We invite
all to join with us to celebrate Jesse's life at First Baptist Church
Concord, Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. with the service to follow with Dr. Doug
Sager officiating. Family and friends will gather at Highland Memorial
Cemetery at 10 a.m. Thursday for graveside services. Memorial gifts may be
made to support Pediatric Cardology Research at the Mayo Foundation c/o
Department of Development, 200 First Street Southwest, Rochester, MN 55905.
