Wyatt, Othel "Jack", Colonel U.S. Army Retired, age 89 of Farragut, passed away on July 30, 2004 after a short illness. Col. Wyatt was born on September 23, 1915 in Coleman County, Texas. He joined the Army in 1933 and served in the South Pacific during WWII. He participated in campaigns in New Guinea, Luzon, the Philippines, and in the Battle for Leyte Gulf. He served 31 years in the Army in various positions and locations around the world., including as an advisor to the Royal Greek Army where he was decorated by King Paul, then the King of Greece. He also served in the Joint U S Military Advisory Group in Mali, Africa where he served as an advisor to the U S Ambassador. He retired from the Army in 1966. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Presidential Unit Citation and the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. After leaving the Army, Colonel Wyatt owned and worked in several business enterprises in Austin, TX, Petersburg, VA and Chattanooga, TN before retiring and moving to Knoxville in 1989. Colonel Wyatt was a member of the Church of Christ, Lamesa, TX and an endowed member of the Marfa Lodge, #596, Marfa, TX. He was preceded in death by his son, James Michael Wyatt; parents, Pearl Elizabeth and James R. Wyatt; brothers, J. R. Wyatt Jr. and Floyd Wyatt. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Boyd Wyatt; daughter-in-law, Becky Wyatt of Knoxville; son, Delbert Dee Wyatt of California; 3 grandchildren. Services will be held in the Rotunda at the Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery on Lyons View Pike at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday August 4, 2004. An Honor Guard from Ft. Barnett, Elizabeth Oran (Lib) - age 80 of Lenoir City, passed away Monday, August 2, 2004, at Park West Hospital.  She was a member of Central United Methodist Church.  Lib was an avid gardener and lover of wildflowers.  She was a member of Suburbia Women’s Club, Lenoir City Garden Club and The Knox Herb Society.   A tireless community volunteer, she also enjoyed quilting.   Lib was a former First Lady of Loudon County.  Preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (Barney) Barnett; parents, Kitty and Willis Oran; brothers, Joe, Chester, John, Herbert, Jack and Kenneth Oran; sisters, Anna Lucille Oran, Mary Catherine Litt and Mattie Mason.  Survived by children, Dr. Charles Barnett and wife, Sheila, Mary Sowell and husband, Dr. Jonathan Sowell , and Dan L. Hammer, Rev. Neville A. Jr. - age 74 of Lenoir City passed away Monday, August 2, 2004, at his home surrounded by his family.  Neville was a retired minister in the United Methodist Church. After retirement, he and his wife attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. Neville was preceded in death by his parents, Neville A. Hammer, Sr. and Lena M. Woody Hammer. Colvin, Beth Elaine Cosby age 60 of Knoxville passed away Thursday morning, August 5, 2004 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Beth was of the Baptist faith. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, artist and interior designer. Beth was a graduate of Palmetto High School, attended Florida State University and was an active member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Montgomery, Gwen left to be with Jesus on Saturday, August  7, 2004 after seventy-three years on this earth.  She was married to Robert Montgomery, having celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary early at their home on Clearwater Lake, Farmington, Maine last July.  Gwen and Bob both were raised in St. Albans, Queens County, New York City and went to school together from the fourth grade through high school.  Gwen joined Bob when he was stationed in Germany soon after they married.  They lived in Bamberg and Schweinfurt and traveled to various western European countries on leaves.  Gwen chose to be a homemaker, giving up her career as a statistical typist and office manager for a CPA firm in NYC to raise their two children, Paul who died on June 7, 1999 and Robyn who is married to Bruce Wagner of Farragut.  Gwen taught Sunday School at several churches where they lived on Long Island and New Jersey.  Summers were usually spent on Clearwater lake near Farmington, Maine with the children and her sister, Elaine Bohrer and her children, with the husbands joining them as they could on vacation.  Upon retirement, Gwen and Bob lived in Maine for five years before moving to Tellico Village in 1989 to help take care of their only grandchild, Faith Wagner.  They moved to Avalon to be closer to family and church in 1999.  A memorial service will be held at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 4 p.m. with Pastor Brad Brinson officiating.  A reception will follow the service at the home of Robyn and Bruce Wagner at 11015 Crown Point Drive in Farragut.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Building Fund of Two Rivers Church, 11543 Kingston Pike, Farragut, TN  37922 would be appreciated. King, B.J. (Joe), C.P.A. of Knoxville, TN and resident of Lenoir City, TN, went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2004.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War.  He attended Murray State University on a football scholarship before serving in the Army.  After returning from the Army, he attended and later graduated from East Tennessee State University with a B. S. degree in Accounting.  He began his accounting career working for the State of Tennessee where he became a state audit supervisor.  He opened his own practice in the late 1960's and audited across middle and east Tennessee.  He was a jovial and kind-hearted man, who loved his family and friends.  Preceded in death by father, Carl King of Duff, TN; mother, Bessie King of Duff, TN and sister, Ruby York of Cleveland, OH.  Survived by wife, Joyce Ann Wilson King of Lenoir City; daughter, Teresa King of Lenoir City; son, Brian King and daughter-in-law, Christy King; granddaughters, Katie Lynn and Sarah King; all of Lenoir City; sisters, Pearl Rubick of Baltimore, MD and Faye Marlow of Duff, TN; brother, Jim King of Duff, TN; niece, Rondi Hinkle of Baltimore, MD; nephews, Jeff and Darryl Marlow of Duff, TN.  Funeral services will be held Monday, August 23, 2004 at 6:30 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, Lenoir City with Rev. Miller, Col. Dixie M., United States Army Reserve (retired), age 85 of Lenoir City, passed away early Sunday, August 22, 2004 at NHC HealthCare, Ft. Sanders.  He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  A veteran of World War II, he saw combat action in Germany and Czechoslovakia and served in the occupation of Japan.  He was drafted as a private and retired from the United States Army Reserve as a Colonel.  He later served many years as the Veteran Officer in Loudon County.  He was a 50 years + member and past president of the Lenoir City Rotary Club.  Also, he was one of the Original Directors of the Loudon County Boys and Girls Club. A native of Union County, graduate of Horace Maynard High School class of 1937 and the University of Tennessee College of Agriculture class of 1942, he taught at Lenoir City High School for 33 years and was a lifetime member of the NEA.  Preceded in death by parents Robert Eli (Dixie) and Naomi Cook Miller, sisters Ruby Baker, Opal Hale, Maude Bartolett, Edna Palmer and nephew Paul Palmer.  Survived by wife Nep McCosh Miller of Columbus, GA; sisters Goldie Miller and Bonnie Miller of Lenoir City, Winnie Cross of Albany, KY, Wilma Maples of Gatlingburg, Naomi Barker of Columbia; brother Glen Miller of Grand Junction, CO; step children and spouses: Sam and Barbara Warren, Beth and Ric Shean all of Columbus, GA, Mike and Virginia Warren of Fulsher, TX; several step-grand and great grand children; several nieces and nephews.  The family would like to say a special thank you to everyone at NHC HealthCare - Fort Sanders for all the care you gave Dixie and also to Juanita Valentine, special weekend caregiver.  The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City.  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jelinek, June Southard age 67 of Knoxville TN, formerly of Washington, DC, Muncie, IN, Brecksville, OH, Lancaster, OH and Plainview, AR, went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, August 22, 2004 at her home.  June was a member of First Baptist Church Concord, Farragut, TN, and the Faithful Followers Sunday School Class.  She was an inspiration to all who knew her. June started her career with the FBI in Washington, DC and later worked with a law firm in St. Louis, MO. She became a homemaker after her marriage on March 17, 1956. June was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Lofland Southard. Survivors: devoted husband of 48 years, James Jelinek; sons, Dr. James Jelinek Jr. of Great Falls, VA, Stanley Brian Jelinek and Timothy Jon Jelinek both of Westerville, OH; grandchildren, James William Jelinek III, Andrew Yung Jelinek; father, Willis M. Southard of Gravelly, AR; sister, Susan Southard Haas of North Little Rock, AR. And many cousins. Dunaway, Samuel J. (Buddy) - age 79 of Kingston, passed away Monday, August 23, 2004 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center.  He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.  A retired repairman.  Buddy was an avid C. B. Radio Operator.  Survived by his sister, Mary Lou Williford of Harriman; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends at Liberty Baptist Church.  Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Cave Creek Cemetery with Rev. Raper, Jess Willard - age 82 of Lenoir City passed away Monday August 23, 2004, at the Parkwest Hospital. He was an active member of First Baptist Church and Ivan Tinnell’s Sunday School Class. He was a member of Avery Masonic Lodge No. 593 F&AM. Jess was retired from ORNL and was a member of #760 Electrical Union. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and served in WWII. Preceded in death by son, Larry Lee Raper; parents, Cora Kilpatrick and Lon Raper; sisters, Edna Raper Hamby, Vivian Raper Allen and Marcella Raper Williamson. Sheehan, Phyllis B. age 83 of Farragut, formerly of Plymouth, MA, passed away Wednesday evening, August, 25, 2004 at Park West Hospital.  Phyllis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Sheehan; brother, Robert McMahon. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Elysa and William Guerrette of Farragut; son and daughter-in-law, James and Patricia Sheehan of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Stephen Guerrette and Christine Guerrette both of Farragut who were the love of her life. Remsberg, Dean A. - age 71 of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN, formerly of Oakland Co., MI, passed away Monday, August 30, 2004 in Knoxville, TN.  He was a member of Tellico Village Community Church where he was a member of the church choir and enjoyed singing with the Harmonaires.   He was formerly a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Clarkston, MI.  Dean was a retired Chemical Engineer.  He was active in the Tellico Village Players,  an avid bridge player and member of A.C.B. Johnston, Mary Elizabeth Vann of Roane County, was born on May 14, 1908 and died on September 1, 2004. The daughter of John Wylie and Bertie Smith Vann and sister of George and Jack Vann, she married James Clarence Johnston on December 20, 1924 and was a faithful and beloved member of Cave Creek Primitive Baptist Church for more than 75 years. Preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, brothers, grandaughters, Kimberly and Karen Pomfret and grandson Robert Pomfret. She leaves behind a loving church, family and friends who are blessed by the example she set.
