| Robert Andrew (Andy) Long, age 26 of Karns passed away suddenly early Tuesday morning, August 1, 2006. Andy was an active member of Living Water Church. He attended Karns High School. Andy was a very creative person, loved working with his hands, carpentering, automotive, landscaping and helping others. He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Eugene Long. Survivors: mother, Linda Long; brother and sister-in-law, Jeremy and Jamia Long; sister, Jessica Long all of Karns; grandparents, Betty and Fred Woods of Karns, Kenneth and Donna Long of Kingston; several aunts, uncles and cousins; special friends, Jason Sparks, Edward McCarty, Randy Sparks and Dustin Vesser. Kate was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church and was a retired nurse. Preceded in death by husbands, Jack Latham, William Henry Moneymaker and J. B. Jeannette Elizabeth Milnes Cottrell, was born December 10, 1923 in Lackawanna, NY and died Thursday evening, August 3, 2006 at Park West Hospital in Knoxville. Jeannette was a long time member of Concord United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Susanna Wesley Circle and Special Studies Sunday School Class and served for many years as church librarian. She was an active member of the DAR. Jeannette attended Alfred University in New York and later earned a Masters' degree in Library Science from the University of Tennessee. She taught at Pond Gap Elementary School and was the Bearden High School Librarian for 10 years. She was an active member of the Bearden Retired Teachers' Association. Always devoted to her family, Jeannette served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts as well as a Senior Girl Scout leader when her children were growing up. More recently, she served as a reader for the blind in Oak Ridge. She was an avid reader and bridge player in several bridge clubs as well as an extensive traveler with her husband Bill, and also in the years after his death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Birch Milnes and Mary Jeannette Ashdown Milnes; husband of 44 years, William Barber Cottrell; granddaughters, Jeannette Allison Berg and Kirsten Berg Newman as well as her great grandson, Thomas Goosemann. Jeannette is survived by her five children and spouses: Karen and Ron Daves of Farragut, Susan and Don Hill of Fredericksburg, VA, Dr. William (Bill) and Rebecca Cottrell of Concord, NC, Col. | Florence White Reinbold, 92, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of North Olmsted, OH and St. Louis, MO, passed away early Friday morning, August 4, 2006 in Knoxville. Florence was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Knoxville and formerly of St. Brendans of North Olmsted, OH. She loved to sing and at one time had her own radio show in St. Louis. Florence was an avid bowler and golfer. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Charles White and Leona Jenkins White and four sisters. Survivors: husband of over 70 years, Peter N. Reinbold; children and spouses, Deanna and Ronald Barnum of Knoxville, TN, Marlene Holley of Westlake, OH, Dan and Robin Reinbold of Rocky River, OH; Grandchildren, Lisa Alexander, Laura Tipton, Rebecca Gettelfinger, Ronald Barnum II, Denise Acosta, Clinton J. | Herron, Fred C. - age 80 of West Knoxville, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2006 at his home. Mr. Herron’s family wonderfully rejoices in the fact that he accepted Christ as his Savior in the latter part of his life. Fred was retired after 36 years as a carpenter from ORNL and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. We are blessed with the greatest Husband, father and papaw. He was a longtime fox hunter and an avid gardener. Fred was always willing to help other people. | Guy Piercy, Jr., age 63, of Farragut, TN, formerly of Atlanta, GA, died Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Baptist Hospital West in Knoxville after a valiant battle with cancer. Guy was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee Radio and Television Journalism program. Guy was a Vietnam veteran who served with the U.S. Army 525th Military Intelligence Unit stationed in Vietnam during 1968 and 1969. He was a Producer/Director with Georgia Public Television for 20 years. Guy had a deep passion for projects, using both technical skill and his heart in telling the stories so important to him. The audience, in turn, experienced the love and care Guy gave to his work. His television credits include: The Georgia Special Olympics, Lawmakers, Down Home Blues, Foxfire, and Georgia Outdoors. Guy received Emmy awards for outstanding achievement for his work on the magazine program Georgia Digest and the documentary film “On LeConte at 92”. He was a member of the American Motors Owners Association. He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Piercy Sr.; brother, David M. Piercy; step father, William Brogan. Survivors: wife of 25 years, Mary E. (Fran) Piercy; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher D. and Kimberly A. Piercy; 2 grandsons, T. Alexander Piercy (7) and Ethan S. | Glenn Alfred Bowden, age 77 of Knoxville, formerly of Kingston and Oak Ridge, passed away Monday evening, August 7, 2006 at Park West Hospital after a courageous battle with Lymphoma. Glenn was born in Holden, WVA on October 21, 1928. He was of the Christian faith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Glenn was a veteran of World War II serving with the U S Navy. He retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems Inc. in 1985 after 38 years of service with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and HFIR facililty. Glenn was an avid golfer, and enjoyed gardening and genealogy. | Pearl E. Pellom Morrison, age 88, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 9, 2006, at her home. Pearl was a longtime resident of Lenoir City and had recently resided in Knoxville. | Davis, George Henry - age 59 of Hot Sulphur Springs, Colorado passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 8, 2006. He graduated from Lenoir City High School and attended East Tn. State University. George served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a Sergeant in the Army Signal Core. He was employed by Henderson Mine & Mill as an electrician. He loved spending time in the outdoors snowmobiling, fishing, and hunting with family and friends. Additionally he enjoyed restoring cars with his children, traveling across the country with his wife, and spending generous amounts of time with special friends. George was preceded in death by his father, James Paul Davis, and his wife, Janet Elaine Davis. He is survived by sons, Jeremy Davis of Battleground, Washington (wife, Cathy and children, Nathaniel and Nicholas) and Marcus Davis of Milliken, Colorado (wife, Connie and children, Caitlin and Dakota); mother, Lucille Davis of Lenoir City; sister, Paulette McGill of Lenoir City (husband, David and children, Melanie Moser and Bradley McGill). While George will be missed by all, the celebration of his life goes on in the thoughts and hearts of those he touched. | Velma Jewell Warren, age 84 of Knoxville, formerly of Lexington, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday evening, August 9, 2006 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. Ms. Warren was born in Lindsey, OK and spent most of her life there. Velma pursued her passion of being a nurse and helping people for over 40 years before retiring. She moved to Knoxville in 1986 where she has resided until her passing. She was preceded in death by: her parents, James B. Smith and Bertha Yarbrough Smith; brothers, Ralph J. Smith and Kilburn E. Smith. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharyn and Roy Lessly of Knoxville; son, Dr. L. W. Warren Jr. of Lexington, OK; grandchildren, James Lessly, Jennifer Miller and husband, Steve, Elizabeth Warren and husband Zach Douglas, Matt Warren and Ashley Warren; great granddaughter, Danielle Miller. | Banister, Tobianne S. - age 72 of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN passed away Thursday, August 10, 2006, at her home. She was a 1951 graduate of Central High School in Omaha, Nebraska. A graduate of Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA in 1955 with a BA and Ohio State University College of Education in Columbus, Ohio in 1978 with a MA. Tobianne’s career included: working in banking in Chicago, IL, Editorial Meridith Publishing Company in Des Moines, IA, bank factoring agent in Boston, MA, middle school English teacher in Mountain Home, Idaho, middle school English and Social Studies teacher in Willoughby, OH, Title 1 teacher in Worthington, OH, elementary teacher in Worthington, OH and elementary teacher in Orlando, FL. She married her husband, Robert D. Banister on September 22, 1956. Preceded in death by parents, Donavon and Virginia Southern. Survived by her husband; children, Jennifer Ann and Douglas Kirk; grandchildren, Bryden, Hunter, Sagen and Ashten. | Thelma Kerr "Thel" Rynes, age 80 of Knoxville entered into eternal life peacefully Friday, August 11, 2006. Thel was born in Perth, Western Australia, where she resided until she was 21 years old. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was active throughout her life in community service, enriching the lives of others. Thel enjoyed writing poetry, composing music, cooking and playing the piano. Thel gave credit for her educational foundation to the Sisters of Mercy and she spoke often with love and affection for all they did in her life. She was able to reach out to others touching many lives. Those closest to her will miss her dearly. She was a witness to God our Father and His most precious Son Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents Archibald Kerr and Amy Buckley Kerr Sampson. | Joe Edward Arwood Sr. , age 73 of Farragut, formerly of South Knoxville and Roane County passed away early Wednesday morning, August 16, 2006 at Park West Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Joe retired from ORNL in 1994 with over 30 years of service and was a craft supervisor at the HIFR. He was a member of Cherokee Lodge # 728 F&AM and was a 32nd degree mason. Joe was a member of the International Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local. He was an avid Vol fan and supporter, and loved to camp. Joe was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Evelyn Bradburn Arwood; parents, Bruce and Mattie Wilkins Arwood; brother, Gene Arwood. | John Howard Connors, age 82, passed away peaceably at his home in Knoxville, TN on Friday August 18, 2006, from complications brought on by Parkinson's disease. Mr. Connors was born in New York City but lived most his life in and around Newark, NJ. His last years were in residence at Knoxville, so family could provide support. John served in WWII as a navigator in the Pacific Theater, flying many combat missions. After the war he returned to Rutgers University where he went received his BA and went on to graduate from Rutgers Law school. Upon graduation, John immediately joined the FBI as a special agent from 1951until 1976. Most of his career was in the Newark FBI Office where he was among the first agents, nationally, assigned to the "Top Hoodlum" program of 1957 that grew into the Organized Crime Division of the FBI. John remained in the Organized Crime Squad C-4 until 1969 when he became Supervisor of the second Organized Crime squad formed in New Jersey, C-7. During his time in the FBI he received several Awards from FBI Directors, Hoover, Gray and Kelley for superior work, beginning in 1959 with the first Award issued in the FBI's fight against organized crime. Upon retirement from the FBI, John became the first Head of Security for the New Jersey Sports Complex where the Giants and the Jets play. After a few years he went to work briefly for the insurance company Crumb and Fosters as Head of Security but than went to work for Caeser's World the parent company of the casinos and hotels. He was a Senior Vice President of Corporate Security for the next 15 years, retiring at age 70 at the Caesar's Atlantic City. He became a regular speaker at the FBI Academy and other law enforcement agencies on criminal activities in the Casino industry. John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Towey Connors; sister Helen Connors; grandchildren Elizabeth Connors and Christopher Coes. He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Doris Connors; seven children, Michael Connors, Kathleen Connors, Kevin Connors and wife Donna, Brendan Connors, Maureen Coes and husband David, Eileen Connors, Helene Crowson and husband Robert; 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. | Vineyard, Clayton Wayne - of Lenoir City, passed this life to a heavenly home on August 18, 2006. Clayton was born in Manakin, Virginia on March 6, 1945, but moved to Lenoir City at an early age and lived in Lenoir City most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy at the U.S. Naval Photographic Center in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Lenoir City High School and attended the University of Tennessee Chattanooga and Knoxville. Clayton was retired from Collins and Aikman in Athens and was a member of the Lenoir City Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Vineyard, grandson, Logan Vineyard, and father and mother-in-law, Arvine and Grace Huffine. He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Gail Huffine Vineyard; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Jodi, of Ooltewah; Travis and Jennifer, of Lenoir City; Brent and Tonya, of Kingston; his mother, Josie Vineyard; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Loretta Vineyard; nephew, Chip Vineyard, and niece, Wendy Moses of Lenoir City. He was a devoted grandfather to his four grandsons: Lane, Hayden, Jackson and Brycen. Bauer Sr. (U.S. Army Retired), age 76 of Lexington, KY, formerly of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Friday after a long battle with pancreatic cancer at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald C. and Dolores M. Bauer of Ft. Myers, Florida. He is survived by his daughter DruAnne B Martin and grandson, Russell D. Martin of Lenoir City, Tennessee; by his son Daniel H. Bauer, Jr. and wife, Keri and granddaughters, McKenzie & Josie of Atlanta, Georgia; his devoted sister and brother-in-law, DeAnne & Charles Smith of Ft. Myers, Florida; his nieces Deborah & David Messmer of Cincinnati, Ohio, Denise and Roger Hollen of Fruitland Park, Florida, and Danielle Smith of Naples, Florida; and grandnieces Sarah & Diane Messmer, and grandnephews Clayton & Cody Hollen.; and numerous loving cousins of the Liebriech family in the Cincinnati Ohio area.Col. Bauer was a 29 year veteran of the Army serving in Korean & Vietnam War. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati Ohio with a masters degree in History.. He was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Cathedral while in Knoxville, and Christ the King Cathedral in Lexington, KY, a member of the Three Rivers, Michigan Elks Lodge No. 1248, former member of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association and other various horse racing associations. Col. Bauer left the Knoxville area after retirement to pursue his lifelong passion full-time, of training and racing Thoroughbred horses in Kentucky and Ohio. He will be missed by his friends & horse racing colleagues in Lexington, Kentucky where he was fondly known as, “The Colonel. | Mason, Dr. John S., Sr. - age 75 of Loudon, TN, formerly of Richmond, VA, passed away Monday, August 21, 2006, at his home. Dr. Mason attended Richmond Public Schools and Randolph - Mason College where he was a member of the Beta-Beta-Beta honorary Biological Fraternity. He graduated from the M. C. V. School of Dentistry in 1960 with B.S. and D.D.S. degrees. Dr. Mason practiced dentistry in Richmond for 35 years. He was a life member of the Richmond Dental Society, the V. D. A. an the A. D. A. Upon retiring in 1995, he practiced part-time as a volunteer dentist at the Crossover Health Ministries. She was a 50 + year member of Central United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women, the Volunteer Sunday School Class, and the church choir . Betty taught kindergarten at Central United Methodist Church for many years and retired as purchasing manager from Loudon Hospital. | Todd, Richard Douglas Sr, of Farragut passed away Thursday evening, August 31, 2006 at the age of 77. Mr Todd was surrounded by a family that loved him dearly, as he left to be with Jesus. Richard served in U.S. Army from 1951 to 1959 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons, and watching and attending sporting events. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 44 years, Inia Mae Brown Todd; father Raymond Elmer Todd and brother Kenneth Dean Todd. He is survived by daughter, Donna Joyce Todd; and granddaughter, Stephanie Dee Todd; great grandson, Christopher David Corbin; son, Richard Douglas Todd Jr.; grandsons, Richard Douglas Todd III and Zachariah Lamar Todd; mother, Eva Elsie Garthwaite Todd and sister, Peggy Joyce Todd Woodward both of Daytona Beach, FL; brother, Robert Allen Todd of St. Paul, MN; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bill Middleton officiating. | Estella Light (Stella) Ogle, age 77, of West Knoxville, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 31, 2006 at her home. Stella was a member of Hutson Grove Church of God in Knoxville for over 50 years. She was an employee of Shannondale Nursing Home. Stella was a past Worthy Matron of Oak Ridge Chapter # 390 O.E. S., past Worthy Royal Matron of Atomic City Court #6 Order of the Amaranth, past Worthy Matrons and past Worthy Patrons Association of Middle East Tennessee, Member of Abdiel Temple #147 Daughters of the Nile. Stella was preceded in death by her father, Sam Light and mother, Ruth Scott Light. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Jesse Ogle; sons and daughter-in-law, Conard and Carol Ogle of Knoxville, DeWayne of Oak Ridge; daughter and son-in-law, Janine and Robert Burnett of Strawberry Plains; grandchildren, Jonathan, David and Justin Ogle, Miranda Ogle and Heather Burnett; great grandsons, Kenneth and James Ogle; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia Hayes of Knoxville, Mary Lou and Clifford Hayes of Knoxville, Pansy and Glen Hayes of Knoxville, Rossie and Bill Ogle of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Friday in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel followed by an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. conferred by Past Matrons and Past Patrons of Middle East Tennessee. Funeral services will follow with Mr. Tony Miller and Rev. Steve Pratt officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Saturday at Concord Masonic Cemetery for graveside services.
