Laska, Fran age 43 of Concord, TN, formerly of Detroit, MI, passed away Tuesday morning, February 3, 2004 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice Center. Fran was a former employee of Madison Day Spa. Wells, Laura Brewer, age 90, of Knoxville, peacefully passed into the serenity of her heavenly estate while her grandson read the 23rd Psalm to her early Thursday morning, February 5, 2004. As the Lord shepherded her home, she was greeted by late husband Ralph, parents William and Mary Catherine, brothers and sisters Woodrow, Toby, Helen, Ida, Irene, and Maggie, and grandson Dirk. A tireless worker, Laura went to work at age 14 year amassing 45 years of superlative service at Cherokee Mills before her retirement in 1972. After "retiring", she continued improving lives by volunteering for numerous West Knoxville charities, selling hot tamales within her community, and serving in her-beloved Marble City Baptist Church. Her indelible spirit and love will continue to shine through son Bill and his wife, Barbara Wells, her daughter, Drayma Wells, her twin sons, Darrell and his wife Betty Wells and David and his wife, Sue Wells, as well as, dear friend, Patricia "Penny" Maples and niece, Bonnie Brewer Sexton. Her proud lineage includes 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Indeed, all generations of "her children arise and call her blessed." Hill, Robert Warner, Age 81, resident of Knoxville, Tennessee, died Sunday, February 8, 2004 after a lengthy illness. Hill was a native of Harrington, Delaware, and a long time resident of Punta Gorda, Florida. Hill lead a very interesting life extending from the Eastern NASCAR Circuit to Aviation. Hill had a prominent career in earlier years as a champion stock car racer. He was well known on the Eastern NASCAR circuit in the late 40's and 50's. He was the state champion in Delaware for many years. His racing career came to a screeching halt when in 1955 his car was forced off the track and flipped 13 times. His injuries were so severe he could no longer race. He was then asked to serve as Director of a three state area and Head Steward for NASCAR until 1959. Hill's need for speed then changed from stock cars to airplanes. He was widely recognized for his accomplishments. Hill ran a Flight school, a long distance air ambulance service, as well as managed the Charlotte County Airport from 1966-1972.  The FAA and Piper Aircraft Company recognized Hill because of an incident that occurred during an instructional flight with a student. Hill's student was doing a maneuver with the plane when the plane went into a flat spin. Hill was quickly able to determine what the problem was and how to correct it, saving the life of himself and the student. There had been numerous accidents involving this particular style Piper aircraft, Instructors and students doing the same particular maneuver, the plane had been sent into the flat spin none of the other instructors had been able to recover, Hill and his student were the first survivors of that type of incident. The FAA and Piper Aircraft were extremely grateful for the resolution of the problem, because he was able to assure the future safety of countless others who would have perished in further incidents.  Hill was also instrumental in greatly expanding the Charlotte County Airport and bringing in new business into the Charlotte County area. When he first started his flying service at the airport in 1963, grass was growing through the cracks in the runways. Hill was one of the deciding factors in advancing the airport from a field where pilots did pretty much as the pleased to a modern facility with controlled approaches and procedures. Hill was not all work and no play. For relaxation he liked to play the 5 string banjo. He was completely self taught. Along with the banjo, he also taught himself to play the guitar, fiddle, mandolin. Mr. Hill retired in Punta Gorda and relocated to Knoxville, TN in 1986. Just because hill retired, it did not slow him down. Hill and his wife traveled the country playing tournament bridge. He also took up interests in repairing and restoring antiques. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Harry Case and Myrtle Reynolds Hill of Harrington, Delaware and a sister, Betty Ortali of California. HEIL, MILDRED CARLINE HENDERSON (Millie) ~ age 72 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully February 10, 2004 at NHC Healthcare, Farragut. Born and raised in Old Hickory, TN, Miss Henderson was selected to attend both Volunteer Girls' State and Volunteer Girls' Nation in 1947. She completed a two-year course of studies at the Ward-Belmont School (Nashville) in 1950 and attained a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Kentucky in 1953. General Electric Corporation hired her as one of only a handful of female computer programmers in Louisville, KY, where she also married her husband in 1957. As an accomplished enamelist, Mrs. Heil was a member of the Foothills Craft Guild and the Southern Highland Craft Guild. In later years, she developed a talent for decorative and folk-art painting and was a member of the Rocky Top Decorative Painters. Preceded in death by: her devoted husband of 23 years, Stuart Votteler Heil (1981); and her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Carl F. Henderson, Sr. She is survived by: two daughters & sons-in-law, Sue Ellen & David R. Kincer, and Grace & David Ingram, all of Knoxville; three loving grandsons, Joe Kincer, and Jake & Alex Ingram, all of Knoxville; brother & sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Carl F. Aschenbach, David F. - age 65 of the Tellico Village Community in Loudon, TN, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2004, at the Farragut Health Care Center. David was born in Sidney, Ohio July 17, 1938. He graduated from Sidney High School, Ohio University with a B.A. in secondary education and he received his M.A. in administration from Bowling Green State University. He was in education for 31 years and a high school principal for 25 years. David served as President of Ohio Association of Schools in 1977-78. A member of Ohio High School Athletic Association and District Board of Control. He was President of Kiwanis Club in Fremont, Ohio in 1985-86 and President of Ohio University Society of Alumni & Friends in Education. He and his wife were former members of St. John Lutheran Church in Fremont and current members of Tellico Village Community Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Charlotte Aschenbach and his grandson, Andrew Carpenter. David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diane R. Aschenbach; children: Natalie Danhoff and her husband, Dave of Clyde, OH, Melissa Carpenter and her husband, Todd of Bay Village, OH, David Aschenbach and his wife, Amy of West Chester, OH; grandchildren: Ben and Alivia Danhoff, Abby Carpenter, Ryan and Zachary Aschenbach; sisters: Charlotte Fogt of West Carrollton, OH, Eleanor Smith of Pompano Beach, FL and Polly Watkins of Sidney, OH; brother, Roger Aschenbach of Sidney, OH; many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Ragsdale, Horace D. age 81 of the Paint Rock Community, Kingston passed away at  his home Friday, February 20, 2004.  He was owner and operator of Ragsdale Produce for 60 years. He was an avid Bible reader and he loved the Lord and his family.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hassie Rather Ragsdale; son, Kenneth Ragsdale; parents, Melvin and Della Ragsdale; brother, Floyd Ragsdale; sister , Mildred Eblen and son-in- law, Wayne Fair.  He is survived by daughers, Betty Fair, Della Pickering and husband Gilbert; grandsons, Michael Fair, Jason Pickering and wife Tracy. Great-grandsons, Austin Fair and Allen Pickering all of the Kingson area; brother and sister-in-law, James and Carrie Ragsdale of Lenoir City; brother-in-law, Howard Eblen of Knoxville; nieces, Martha Westberry, Linda Ragsdale and Wanda Cox; nephews, Danny Eblen, James, Tommy and Robert Ragsdale.  The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 p.m. Sunday at the Hawkins Chapel in Lenoir City with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Christman, Dianne D., age 68, of the Tellico Village Community in Loudon, TN. passed away on February 20th at home. Dianne was born in Oakland, California, April 25, 1935. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco. Dianne worked for 20 years as a medical assistant to a general surgeon in Rochester, Michigan. She was acitve in several community organizations, including the Crittenton Hospital Auxilliary and the Meadowbrook Theatre Guild. After moving to Tennessee in 1995, Dianne become an avid golfer and Friday night dancer. She was a member of the Tellico Village Community Church. Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dorothy Kimpel. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Douglas Christman of Tellico Village; Son Stephen Christman and wife Lori, of Toledo, OH.; Grandchildren Rayna and Sam Christman; Sister Patricia Peterson of Morgan Hill, CA.; Brother Walter Kimpel of Freson, CA. A Celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2004, at the Tellico Village Community Church with Rev. Martin Singley officiating. A reception will follow in he Church Christian Life Center. Geer, Jere W. Age 78 of Lenoir City,Tennessee passed away at his home Sunday February 22, 2004. Jere was born in South Pittsburg, Tennessee on November 8, 1925. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Charles J. Kimmel (DE-584). He was retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory after 38 years service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dibrell and Eula Smith Geer; brothers, Albert and Clifford Geer. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Tuck Geer; Sons Matthew Geer and wife Brenda King Geer  and Thomas Geer; Grandchildren Jordan Geer, Twin Granddaughters Mattie and Mackenzie Geer; Sister Ann Geer Kaplan of California. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p m Tuesday at Hawkins chapel in Lenoir City with funeral service to follow at 7:30 p m with Rev. Charles Carpenter officiating. Koontz, Stanley William - age 85 of the Rarity Bay Community in Vonore, TN, formerly of Redding, OH and Crossville, TN, passed away Monday, February 23, 2004.  A veteran of W. W. II serving in the U. S. Army in Italy.  He was a member of Tellico Village Community Church.  Stanley retired from General Electric. Following his retirement, he worked for over 20 years at Stonehenge Golf Club in Crossville as their starter.  Preceded in death by first wife, Marge Koontz and parents, Edgar and Leona Koontz. He is   survived by his wife of 11 years, Dorothy Koontz; sons, Ric Koontz of Crossville and Scott Koontz of Charleston, S.C.; and 4 grandchildren.  He is also survived by Dorothy's three children and six grandchildren.  A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2004  at Tellico Village Community Church with Rev. Shubert, Johnny Lyle Sr. - age 52 of Lenoir City went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 26, 2004.  He was a member of Jackson Chapel Baptist Church in Loudon.  Johnny was employed by Yale Security for 26 years.  He was preceded in death by his infant son, David; parents, Dave and Hazel Shubert; brothers, Arnold, Bobby, Marlin and Leonard; sisters, Nanny and Rossie.  He leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Wanda Shubert; children, Angie Caughorn and husband, Jerry, Johnny Shubert and wife, Crystal; Wanda Collins and husband, Joe, and Leslie Key and husband, Jonathan; grandchildren, Whitney, Austin, Taylor, David, Adrianna, Kasea, Cordell, Joshua and Amber; sister, Peggy; brother, Jay; several nieces and nephews.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m.  Rev. Pickel, Gary Lee age 71 of Kingston passed away Sunday, February 29, 2004 at his home.  He was a member of New Midway Baptist Church.  Gary was an Instrument Mechanic at K-25 for 39 years.  A veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Korean War.  Preceded in death by father, Walter Pickel; brothers, J. W. Pickel and Paul Pickel.  Survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Perkey Pickel; sons, Scott Pickel and wife, Annette of Kingston, Bryan Pickel of New Hampshire; daughter, Carol Myers and husband, Pat of Sevierville; grandchildren, Leslie Myers, Nick Myers and Matt Laughery; mother, Erma Green Pickel; brother, Clarence Pickel of Kingston; sister, Agnes Norman and husband, Ralph of Alabama; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Terry and Carolyn Perkey; sister-in-laws, Carolyn Hutcheson and Peggy Pickel; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Becky and Tommy Crox; several nieces and nephews.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m.  Rev.
