Smith, Bobby Sloan (Bob) age 65 of Lenoir City passed away Saturday evening, January 4, 2003 at his home. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the church choir. Bob was a past Rotarian and past president of the American Red Cross. He was a member and chairman of the Loudon Co. School Board. Bob served in the U. S. Army. He was former owner and manager of Lenoir Builders Supply. Campbell, James Edward "Eddie" II, age 55, died Sunday, January 5, 2003, in Jacksonville, Florida. Eddie was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. He attended George C. Wallace Junior College in Dothan, Alabama and Armstrong State College in Savannah, Georgia. Eddie served 22 years in the United States Navy as an Antisubmarine Warfare Specialist. He served on the USS Saratoga during Operation Desert Storm. Eddie was employed by the US Postal Service in Jacksonville at the time of his death. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Savannah. He was a lifelong fan of Auburn Tigers football. Eddie was preceded in death by his father, James E. Campbell, Sr., sister Carolyn A. Broyles, Nick age 80 died Thursday, January 9, 2002 at his residence at River Oaks in Lenoir City.  Nick was born on March 6, 1922 on the family farmstead near Gallopolis, Ohio to George and Nancy (Lee) Broyles.  He graduated from Gallopolis High School in 1940.   After high school like many boys his age he spent a few months working under a Federal work project before enlisting in the Army Air Corps.  He was stationed in the Pacific Theatre.  After his discharge Nick married Elzetta Pearl (Presson) Broyles on September 21, 1946.  Nick first attended Ohio State University on the GI Bill and was coached by Woody Hayes on the volleyball and baseball teams.  He later worked for North American Aviation in Columbus.  While working for North American Aviation and later Rockwell International he worked in Ohio, Missouri, California, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania with many temporary assignments in other places and overseas.  Nick received many accolades from numerous government and non-profit groups he gave his time to.  These included groups in the seventies striving for equality such as "Oklahoma Governor's Work Group on the Handicapped".  After retirement Nick and Elzetta moved to Pataskala, Ohio.  While there he ran and was elected twice to the Etna Township Clerk Position.  They moved to Tellico Village in 1997.  Nick was an active member in the Disciples of Christ (Christian) denomination throughout his life.  He was an active participant in the Loudon County Christian Church.  He is survived by his wife, Elzetta; sons, Michael Lee and wife, Linda of Tellico Village, Pat of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, Timothy Alan and wife, Bonnie of Strasburg, Pennsylvania; daughter, Tamara Sue (Hall) and husband, Rick of Gallup, New Mexico; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Loudon County Christian Church with Pastor Rick Keck officiating.  Everyone who knew Nick is invited to attend.  The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Loudon Co. Shelton, James Simmons (Jim) age 32 of the Karns Community, Knoxville, passed away suddenly Friday evening, January 17, 2003 at Park West Hospital of a heart attack. Coker, Grace Raby age 80, a lifelong native of the Farragut area, passed away Saturday morning January 18, 2003 at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Grace was a very active member of First Farragut United Methodist Church. She was a founding member of the Knox County Alliance of Seniors and was the director of the travel tours for the group.  Grace was in charge of all the elections in the Farragut area. She was retired from the Tennessee Department of Employment Security and was the former owner of Creative Tours. Carmichael, Alma Lucken age 95 of Farragut, TN, formerly of Bethesda, MD and Dayton, KY, passed away Sunday morning, January 19, 2003 in Knoxville, TN. Alma was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, Bethesda, MD.  She was an avid gardener and loved flowers.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.   Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Carmichael. Lawrence, Owa Mae Wood age 88 of Farragut passed away Monday January 20, 2003 at the Farragut Health Care Center. Mae was born in Suit, NC and was a graduate of Murphy High School. She was a member of Dixie Lee Baptist Church since June of 1945, where she was a choir member and taught the Faithful Workers Sunday School class for 41 years. Mae worked for many years at Yale and Towne in Lenoir City and was a retired manager of the baby department at J. C. Penney. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker. Mae was a lifelong volunteer at the Farragut Health Care Center and was the recipient of the 1997 TN Nursing Health Care Volunteer of the year award. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Clyde Lawrence; parents, James and Letha Collins Wood; brothers, Lon, Fred, Claude, Lee, Stanley, Quinton and Charlie Wood. Smallen, Virgil H. age 85 of Lenoir City passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at the Blount Memorial Hospital.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  Virgil was a retired machinist from Martin Marietta.  A veteran of W. W. II serving in the U. S. Army Air Corp, he was an ex P. O. Edgar, Dr. Ralph Milton, 56, of Farragut, died suddenly Wednesday evening January 22, 2003, at his home. Ralph, an Air Force veteran, was a graduate of Wake Forest University and completed his PhD at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in psychology.  He was a licensed  psychologist and member of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Edgar was currently Director of Special Education for the Lenoir City Schools where he had worked for more than 25 years. He devoted his life to children and received the 2002 LTEVC Outstanding Educator Award for Loudon County. Ralph was an avid golfer and fisherman, loved music, cooking and entertaining in his home. Workman, Joan, of Knoxville, formerly of Charleston, SC, born November 9, 1936, passed away Thursday evening January 23, 2003 at her home.  Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  Along with raising her family, she also enjoyed many activities including, toll painting, traveling, cruising, and flower gardening.  Joan spent many years of her life being the primary care giver for her mother and her father.  Surviving Joan is her husband of 49 years, Edwin Workman; children, Edwin G. Lauderdale, Mildred K. Settlemire age 91 of Lenoir City passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at the Ft. Sanders Loudon Medical Center. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and the Church Women’s Club. Mildred was also a member of the Garden Club, and Home Demonstration Club. Preceded in death by husband, James W. Lauderdale; daughter, Peggy L. May; parents, William K. and Mary Scates Settlemire; sisters, Mary Eileen S. Jordon, Anna L. S. Grooms and Jessie Leona S. Fox; brothers, Marshall Settlemire, Archie R. Settlemire, G. Robin Settlemire, and Cecil B. Settlemire. Survived by grandson, Michael May and wife, Debra; great grandson, David May; sister, Alta Faye S. Leaman; former son-in-law, George W. May and wife, Carolyn all of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Summers, Stephen Allen age 56 of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon passed away at his home, January 28, 2003 after a courageous fight with cancer. He was a member of the Tellico Village Community Church. He was a 1964 Graduate of North High School in Evansville, Ind. He had a BS degree in Production Management from the University of Evansville in 1968. He obtained his MS degree in Business Administration in 1974. He was an employee of the DaimlerChyrsler Corp. and from 1969 to 1974 he was a Management Trainee at the St. Louis Assembly Plant and also served as Quality Control Analyst/Engineer and Quality Control Supervisor. From 1974 to 1979, he was at the Detroit Lynch Road Assembly Plant as a Utility Superintendent, then as General Foreman of Hardware, Hardware Production Superintendent , Plant Electrical Co-ordinator and Quality Assurance Manager. From 1979 to 1997, he was in Detroit Centerline and Auburn Hills where he was the Reporting Systems and Development Specialist, then as Service Analysis and Report Manager, Service and Parts Planning and Systems Manager, Customer Satisfaction Planning and Systems Manager and he developed the Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSI) and Global Claims System. From 1997 to 2000, he was in Mexico City as a Warranty and Service Contracts Manager. He retired from DaimlerChrysler in 2000 after 32 years of service. Steve enjoyed all sports, especially golf and boating. Steve was a member of the ADA, Lambda Chi Alpha house manager and treasurer, Secretary for the American Business Association, a College Red Cross Representative, Chrysler Management Club Chairman, Bowling League President, Golf League President and a member of the DaimlerChrysler Retirees Club. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Allen Leroy Summers. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Marie (Long) Summers; sons, Scott Andrew Summers of Dallas, Tx. and Jeffrey Bruce Summers of Lake Orion, Mich; mother, Evelyn Jean (Grimmeissen) Summers; Brother, Michael David Summers of Evansville, Ind.; sister, Cynthia Louise Cooper of Evansville, Ind; 1 aunt; 4 cousins and 3 nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2003 at the Tellico Village Community Church with Rev. Marty Singley officiating. Family will receive friends Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Interment will follow in the Lake View Cemetery. Keevert, Mildred Eleanor age 80 of the Tellico Village Community formerly of Cleveland, Ohio passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2003 in Knoxville.  She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Kindred Spirits in Tellico Village and the Loudon D. A. R. Chapter.  Mildred served in the U. S. Navy during W. W. II.  In Ohio she was a member of the Antique Collectors Club, the Doll Collectors Club and the National Button Society.  Preceded in death by husband, Lynn F. Keevert; and parents, Vernon and Ida Bickford.  Survived by daughter, Marla Lynne Lammi and husband, Charles of Tellico Village Community, Loudon.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. at the Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Wilbanks, Gene Ray age 65 of Knoxville passed away Thursday afternoon, January 30, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospice Center. Gene was a Christian. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Gene was a retired painter. Survivors: wife, Carolyn Wilbanks; children, Terry, Tony, Gina, Oleta, James and Brian; several grandchildren and one great grandchild; sister, Irene Tuckness. Family and friends will gather at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Lake View Cemetery for graveside services with Rev. Timothy L.
