H. and Dossie Weaver Amos. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Stalyon. Survived by her daughter, Bobbie S. Davis,
Houston Lee - age 22 of Knoxville,
passed away January 6, 2006 at his home. He was of the Baptist faith,
having been saved at Concord Baptist Church during Bible School as a child.
Houston was an EMT with Rural Metro, and he dearly loved his work and his
co-workers. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Doyle Lee Davis
and Charles Frank Hawkins. Left to cherish his memory is his father, Terry
Lee Davis and wife, Susan of Tullahoma; mother, Sherry Davis West and
husband, David of Rockwood; grandmothers, Dorothy Davis of Tullahoma and
Bobby Sue Hawkins of Greenville, SC; special uncles, Mike Davis of
Tullahoma, C. F. Hawkins , Rusty Smart both of Florida, Terry and Nancy

age 91 of Shannondale Health Care Center Knoxville, formerly of North Little
Rock, AR passed away Friday, January 6, 2006. Melba was a founding member
of the Levy Church of Christ in North Little Rock ,AR and a member of the
West End Church of Christ in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her
husband David L. Craft; parents, William and Vina Coffey; beloved sister,
Marlie Carter. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Jim Simpson of
Knoxville, TN; beloved niece, Sharon Sutton of Costa Mesa, CA;
granddaughters, Patti Shuler and husband, Lamar of Knoxville, Mary Katherine

| Kennedy, Jill Bennett - of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday morning, January 7, 2006. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Jill retired from Wal-Mart. She loved her crafts and won numerous awards for clogging. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Kaylor; son, Michael Bennett and husband, Ronald Bennett. Survived by her son, Ronald E. | Green, Frank Delaplaine Jr., M.D., age 78 of Farragut, passed away Saturday evening, January 7, 2006. Dr. Green was a member of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church. He was a graduate of Ursinus College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Green was an Anaesthesiologist with UT Medical Center for 10 years. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. In Korea he served with the U.S. Army's 300th Armored Field Artillery Battalion of the Wyoming National Guard, where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with V Device for Valor. Dr. Green was active as an AYSO soccer referee and as a volunteer with Lenoir City Elementary School for many years. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ellen Moorby Green; children Lt. Col. Patricia Ellen Tilson serving with the U.S. Army in Washington D.C.; Suzanne Elizabeth Peters and husband Brian of Farragut; Thomas Anson Green and wife Jane of Surfside, FL; grandchildren Alexander Bascomb Peters and Christopher Thomas Peters; brothers Robert McKay Green and wife Shirley of Madison, CT; Donald Gelston Green and wife Barbara of Charlotte, NC. | Baird, Paul - age 82 of Lenoir City, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and family. He enjoyed a 37 year career in the United States Government. A veteran of World War II, serving under Gen. George S. Patton in the United States Army. He extended his military career in the United States Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant. He went on to serve in the Department of Defense as a Communications Specialist. Paul was a 32nd degree Mason. A member of the Kerbela Shrine Temple where he was active with KARS and the Jesters. For more than 50years, he was a ham radio operator holding an extra class license (K3PB) He was preceded in death by parents, Wymer and Minnie Gibson Baird; brothers, Claude, Andy, Clifford and Jennings; sisters, Mary Etta and Goldie. Bandy -
Age 81, of Farragut passed away on 15
January 2006, after having had a stroke. Born and raised in Crossville, he
was a graduate of Cumberland County High School and was a Boy Scout. As a
boy, Ward enjoyed building model airplanes and at the age of 12 he competed
in and won the Southern Conference Model Airplane Competition. He was a
First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps/Air Force and served during World War
II and again during the Korean Conflict as a multi-engine B-17 bomber and
C-47 transport pilot. His duty locations included Roswell, NM; Tampa, FL;
Boca Raton, FL and overseas in the Philippine Islands and Alaska. He is a
1950 graduate of the University of Tennessee. He retired after thirty-five
years of employment as an Industrial Photographer and Photography Department
Head at Martin Marietta Energy Systems in Oak Ridge, TN. He was a long time
member of the Professional Photographers of America (PP of A). Ward was the
recipient of numerous honors and awards for his photography while in the
Tennessee Professional Photographer's Association, the Southeastern
Professional Photographic Association and the Professional Photographers
Association of America. In 1980 the PP of A conferred upon him the Tennessee
Service Degree and the Certified Professional Photographer Degree. Ward
served several terms as a member of the PP of A governing body. He received
the PP of A's coveted Photographic Craftsman Degree in Los Angeles in 1974.
In all of these organizations, his photographs repeatedly won a myriad of
honors and awards for the photographs he submitted for judging by his peers
in annual, state, regional, and national salon competitions. Several of the
photos Ward made of atomic research and engineering subjects have appeared
in scientific textbooks and encyclopedias. The Smithsonian Institution in
Washington and Science magazine also accepted and has published several of
Ward's photos. Ward was active in the Garden Club and Photography Club at
O'Connor Senior Center and was a long time member of the Concord United
Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Georgia McCormick
Bandy of Farragut; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Susan Bandy of Colorado
Springs, CO; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Thomas and Jennifer Bandy of
Knoxville; daughter, Claire Bandy of Hampton, VA; and daughter Jana Bandy

| Buchanan, Dr. Raymond A. (Ray) age 62 of Knoxville, died Sunday evening, January 15, 2006 at his home. Ray was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. He was a Professor and Head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was a three-time graduate of Vanderbilt University, receiving BE, MS and PhD degrees from that institution. His first teaching position was at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He joined the faculty of the University of Tennessee in 1985. He was recipient of numerous awards for his teaching and research. Among these were the UT Chancellor's Award for Research and Creative Achievement, the College of Engineering's Brooks Distinguished Professor Award, the Allen and Hoshall Engineering Faculty Award, the Robert M. Condra Professorship, and several Outstanding Teacher Awards. Ray's expertise was in the areas of corrosion, wear, fatigue, and biomaterials. He had numerous publications in these areas including a textbook coauthored with E. E. Stansbury entitled "Fundamentals of Electrochemical Corrosion." Ray was an active member of several professional societies, and he was a fellow of ASM International (formerly American Society for Metals) and a former chairman of the Oak Ridge Chapter. He was recently co-director of a major National Science Foundation (NSF) Integrative Graduate Education and Traineeship Program (IGERT) focused on materials lifetime science and engineering, and he was currently a co-director of a NSF International Materials Institute Program entitled "Advanced Neutron Scattering Network for Education and Research with a Focus on Mechanical Behavior." As evidenced by all of his awards and accomplishments, Ray loved working with students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and he was highly respected by all of the department's faculty, staff and students. Ray loved nature, was an avid Tennessee Football fan and loved to travel. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael David Buchanan; father, Raymond B. Buchanan; sister, Sherry Kay Kline. He is survived by his beloved wife, Billie Miller Buchanan; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Scott Reeves of Atlanta, GA; adoring granddaughters, Katie Reeves, Abby Reeves, Brianna Smith and Hope Buchanan; mother, Katherine Buchanan of Madison, TN; brother, Ronald B. | Franklin, Clifton Vinning - age 89 of Friendsville, went home to be with Jesus Sunday morning, January 15, 2006, at Colonial Hills Nursing Center in Maryville. Clifton was a faithful member of Unitia Holiness Church in Friendsville, where he will be sadly missed by his church family. He served his country in World War II parachuting into France with the United States Army 101st Army Airborne Division. He was retired from Blount County Highway Department. Clifton was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pearl Irene Goforth Franklin; parents, Calie Ann and Jim “Riley” Franklin; brother, J. Fred Franklin. | Phillips, John Kelly II - age 58, of Lenoir City, is now in a place of peace, having joined loved ones that have passed before him. | Rawls, Roy Clayton - age 92 of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2006. He was born November 28, 1913, beloved husband of Evelyn Ruth Packett Rawls. Roy was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He always said his children were his greatest accomplishment recognizing that none would be president but they were all honorable citizens. Roy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Lenoir City, serving as Scout Master, Trinity Trotters and various other duties. He was formally employed at Tuff and Tuff Shirt Factory, Lenoir Car Works, Oak Ridge Laboratory and later as an iron worker. He was a member of Iron Worker Local Union #384. Slim as he was referred to while working for T.V.A. taught evening blue print reading classes. He was initiated into the Masonic Lodge at Kevil, KY in August 1952. Roy achieved 32nd degree status in the Knoxville A and A Scottish Rite. His hobbies included cooking sausage and biscuits, coon hunting, working with small engines and story telling. He could fix anything no matter how bad, but his real genius lay with baling wire. Roy was a private person with simple needs, mainly keeping us warm, safe and well fed. He was the kind of person you always knew when he was in the room. He is survived by five children: Sandra Jane Patnode, Robert Clayton Rawls, Stephen Brady Rawls, Ruth Rawls Pepin and Becky Buckley; 11 grandchildren: Stephen, J. D., Tyler and Michael Patnode, Kariann Deno, Jeremy Clayton Rawls, Thomas Howard Herzog, Jennifer Pepin Davidovicz, Michael Clayton Pepin, Lauren and Andrew Buckley; five great grandchildren, with another on the way, Clayton and Cooper Patnode, Christian, Gillianne and Oliver Deno. Dad’s creed “Actions speak louder than words” and “Do the best you can with what you got” are words that we all live by. 66, Teacher, Harpist, formerly of South Brunswick, NJ, died January 25,
2006 at home in Boynton Beach, Florida. Sally was a teacher and learning
consultant for West Windsor, Cranbury, Jamesburg, and Milltown school
districts. Her 25-year career included reading and math teacher,
cheerleading advisor, resource room teacher, Learning Disability
Teacher-Consultant and Chairperson of Special Services. Sally attended St.
Agnes Episcopal School in Alexandria, VA and Mary Washington College. She
was an accomplished harpist who studied under Carlos Salzado. She obtained
her B.S. degree and M.A. degree from The State College of N.J. Sally earned
honors in "Who's Who" and "Outstanding Leaders in Education". She was a
past member of the Orton Dyslexic Society, Assoc. of Learning Consultants,
Council for Exceptional Children, So. Brunswick Women's Club, the Daughters
of the American Revolution of Palm Beach, and the First Presbyterian Church
of Boynton Beach. Born in Wintrop, Mass., she spent most of her life in New
Jersey and retired to Boynton Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by
her parents, Francis and Juanita Branin, and her sister, Sue Snow. She is
survived by her husband of 48 years, Edward J. Primka Jr.; her brother
Francis "Skip" Branin; her daughter Dawn Smith and her husband Michael
Smith; her son, Edward Primka, MD and his wife Lynda Primka, MD; her
granddaughters Sarah and Lauren Smith; her grandsons: Edward Primka lV,
Alexander and Daniel Primka, Bradley and Garrett Smith. She was much loved

prevented her from attending. Kathleen was a kind and gentle lady who loved
all of God’s four-legged animals and tried to take care of as many of them
as possible. She was helped with this through the care and love of her
husband of 67 years, Bob, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded
in death by her son, Gene Duff. Through the excellent and loving care of
her friend and caretaker, Margie Trollinger, Kathleen was able to have

| Davis, Robert Whitaker, Jr. - born September 16, 1952, in Cincinnati, OH, passed away January 9, 2006, at age 53. He was a resident of Lenoir City, TN and a member of White Wing Nazarene Church. He was a former probation officer in Dallas, Texas. Robert received an undergraduate degree in theology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and Garrett Theological Seminary at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Following graduation he worked with Rev. John Tatum at Inner City Food Pantry in Dallas. While his parents were living in Tokyo, Japan, he moved there and taught English to businessmen at a Japanese Corporation. Upon returning from Japan, he worked for the State of Texas as a probation officer and manager in Dallas for fourteen years. After moving to Lenoir City, he worked for the State of Tennessee, Department of Mental Retardation Services in Knoxville for two years. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Julie and his father, Robert W. Davis, Sr. He is survived by his children: Carrie, Rachel, Matthew and Henry; mother, Mary Huber Davis of Tellico Village, Loudon; brothers, Jim (Judy) of Naperville, IL and Dan (Joni) of Lake Balboa, CA; nieces, Jenny, Christina, Sarah, Kimberly and Molly; nephews, Jim and Nathan; several aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2006, in the Click Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. C. Mark Gooden and Rev. Don Brown will officiate. In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up for monetary donations for the “Davis Family Education Fund”, c\o United Community, 202 Chota Road, Loudon, TN 37774. | Allen, Joe C. - age 70 of Lenoir City, passed away Monday, January 30, 2006. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Retired Superintendent of the Postal Service in Lenoir City. Joe served in the U. S. Navy and was a T.S.S.A.A. football official. Preceded in death by parents, John C. Allen and Gertrude Allen; sister, Betty Craig Hunt. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Peggy Gray Allen; son, Andy Allen and wife, Susie of Knoxville; granddaughter, Meredith Allen; niece, Cathy Craig; nephews, Joe and John Craig all of Daytona Beach, FL. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the church with Dr. Mark Gooden officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Friday in the Loudon Co. Memorial Gardens for graveside services. Military honors will be conferred by the VFW Post 5150, American Legion Post 120, Post 70 and Post 256. Mamie Lee Stalcup Newcombe, age 73 of Knoxville, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 31, 2006 at Park West Hospital after a battle with cancer and pneumonia. Mamie was retired from Cracker Barrel Cedar Bluff. She was a kind and gentle lady who loved her family, friends and customers. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Zona Mae Stalcup; granddaughter, Elisha Marie Majors; brothers, J.C. and Franklin Stalcup; sister, Reba Myers. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Lynn Newcombe; daughter and son-in-law, Lenell and J. R. Wilsey; granddaughter, Sarah Ann Murray; sister and brother-in-law, Veanna and Bob Rider of FL; sister and brother-in-law, Elisa and Ray Harrell; devoted sister and brother-in-law, Polly and Reece Maples; sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Stalcup; brother-in-law, G. W. Newcombe; sister-in-law, Bobbie Boswell; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to the Third Floor Nursing Staff at Park West Hospital. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday followed by funeral services at 7 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Linda Parton officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Forest Cemetery for graveside services.
