Spangler, Martha Webb age 76, a resident of Greywood Crossing, Knoxville, formerly of Lenoir City passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at the Ft. Sanders Parkwest Hospital.  She was a member of First Baptist Church, Lenoir City, where she worked in the nursery for 15 years.  Martha retired from the Lenoir City Utilities Board after 18 years service.  She served as a volunteer at Ft. Sanders Parkwest Hospital for several years.  Preceded in death by parents, Steve Wood Sr. and Essie Carson Wood; brother, Steve Wood Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, Max and Betty Wood; father of her children, Hoyt Webb.   She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Spangler; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Bill and Sharon Webb of Dallas, Tx.; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Steve Moore of Knoxville; grandchildren, Shawn Webb, Ryan Jones, and Courtney Jones; four step children, Donnie Spangler, Brenda Rhea, Patricia Mize-Redding and Sally Fish; eight step grandchildren; seven great step grandchildren; brother, Quay Wood of Tucson, Arizona; sister-in-law, Jean Wood of Etowah; several nieces and nephews.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City.  A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, Lenoir City with Rev. Carmack, Rev. Billy Charles - age 72 of Loudon, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2003. He was a member of Sixth Ave Church of God. Rev. Carmack had pastored several Church of God Churches in the area including: West Lenoir, Loudon, Midway, Midtown and Cedar Bluff. He retired from Liberty National Insurance Company and was a member of Life Underwriters. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Cal and Edna Mae Williams Carmack. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anna Johnson Carmack; daughter, Marsha Brown of the home; grandson, Mark Anthony Stevens; and great grandson, Mark Anthony Stevens II. Mallett, Muriel age 88  of Lenoir City, formerly of Salisbury, NC  passed away July 4, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Marsha Gaster.    She was also a former resident of Echo Ridge Retirement Residence.  Muriel was born in Little Rock, AR on August 4, 1914, to  E.E.  and Irene Beaumont.  She was a member of  First Church of Christ, Scientist, Knoxville, TN and was an avid golfer and Life-Master bridge player. Muriel was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Wade Mallett. La Trobe-Bateman, Basil Frederick age 80 of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN, formerly of Memphis, TN and Atlanta, GA, died Tuesday afternoon, July 15, 2003. Basil was a member of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Farragut, TN. He was born in England and served as an officer in the British Army Royal Artillery for 6  years from 1941 to 1947. Basil came to the United States in 1947 and worked for British Overseas Airways Corp (British Airways) for 23 years. After an accident in the early seventies, he realized his artistic abilities. In addition he was vice president of Bateman Travel in Memphis until his retirement in 1992 when he retired to Tellico Village near Knoxville, TN. He became a citizen of the United States in 1998. He was preceded in death by his son, Julian La Trobe-Bateman in 1994. Survivors: wife of 45 years, Frances La Trobe-Bateman; children and spouses, Christopher and Lisa La Trobe-Bateman of England, Melissa and Christopher Ryder of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren, Charlie, Benjamin, Caroline, and Spencer La Trobe-Bateman, Georgina, Andrew and Olivia Ryder. Dora Dale Bryant Guinn, age 93, of Asbury Acres in Maryville, formerly of Lenoir City returned to God on July 16, 2003. Born on November 9, 1909 in Sardis, Henderson County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of John M. Bryant and Eudora Outlaw Bryant and Beulah B. Bryant. She was a member of Kodak United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Frank J. Guinn and a daughter, Anne-Dale Guinn Criss. Sisters: Geneva B. Rowland, Elizabeth B. Freeman, and Peggy Murphree. Brother: John M. Bryant, Jr. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John F. & Karen H. Guinn of Dandridge, TN. Her grandchildren: Lee Anne G. Hall and husband, Jeff of Seymour, TN; Virginia G. Elmore, John Anderson, Jr. - age 90 of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday morning, July 16, 2003, at Sweetwater Nursing Center. John was retired from the Army Corps of Engineers and a veteran of World War II serving, with the United States Navy . Nelson was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Missouri Valley and Harlingen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean E. Taylor in 2001. Frost, Carolyn Melott age 68 of Farragut passed away in her sleep Monday morning, July 21, 2003 at her home. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Frost; parents, Thelma and Otto Melott founders of Ott's Barbeque. She was a practicing attorney and graduate of the University of Tennessee Law School. Carolyn was a member of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church. A Past Matron of Farragut Chapter 459 Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors: sons, Richard E. (Rick) Frost, David M.  Frost and Douglas L. Clark, Charles Edward - age 80 of Greenback, passed away Tuesday morning, July 22, 2003, at his home. He was a member of Axley's Chapel United Methodist Church and the 25 Year Club at Alcoa from where he retired. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Dana Underwood Clark and his daughter, Hilda Clark Newberry. He is survived by his sons, Ronald Clark and wife, Linda, Danny C. Clark and wife, Roxanne; daughters, Sherrill Ford and husband, Carl, Doris Bailey and husband, Roy all of Greenback; grandchildren: Suzy Mills, Robbie Clark, Carl D. Ford Jr., Jill Billings, Ron Clark, Tracey LeQuire, Allen Bailey, Wesley Ford, Kevin and Clay Clark; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Bailey of Friendsville and Betty Hammontree of Greenback; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Margaret Reed. Darlene F. Smith, age 70 of Loudon, Tennessee, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, July 22nd after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 3, 1933 and after a lengthy accounting career in Prince  George's County, Maryland, she retired with her husband to Tellico Village in  1991. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, and her family and friends. An active community and church volunteer, Darlene will be missed by  many. She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Smith. She is survived by her three children, Glen W. Smith of Owings, Maryland, Mark A.  Smith of Lusby, Maryland and Marsha S. Pace of Knoxville, Tennessee and six grandchildren, Tyler, Laura, Grant, Hunter, Kaitie and Allison. The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff of the Baptist West Hospital (2 West Wing) for all of their loving care. Duff, Thomas Lynn (Tom)  age 62 of Karns, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away suddenly Wednesday afternoon, July 23, 2002 at home. Tom was currently serving as principal at Karns Middle School and was previously a principal at Powell Middle School,  Brownlow Elementary School, Adrian Burnette Elementary School, and was assistant  principal at Gresham Middle School. He was a teacher and coach at West High School and Central High School. He began his teaching and coaching career at Lenoir City High School. Tom's passions include his love of family, friends, kids and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Duff. Survivors: wife of 37 years Mary Margaret McAmis Duff; son , Tim Duff of Knoxville; mother, Geneva Duff of Lenoir City; and his love, Maggie (his red Dachshund); special friends, Gary and Christy Mahoney of Knoxville. Rader, Kenneth Earl (Kenny) age 62 of Knoxville passed away early Friday morning, July 25, 2003, at home among family and friends after a lengthy illness. Kenny was born in Knoxville, the son of Leonard James and Eleanor June Rader. He attended Fulton High School, the University of Tennessee, and was a construction estimator doing cost-analysis for the past 30 years. An avid soccer player, Kenny founded the North Knocks soccer team. He also enjoyed various sporting activities, including scuba diving, working out and running; taking first place in the 100 and 200 meter sprint events at the 2001 Senior Olympics in Gatlinburg. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard James Rader; brother, Jack Rader; and  sister, Brenda Rader. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Rebecca Ann Sherrod Rader; sons, Brian Rader of Knoxville and Tony Rader of Charleston, SC; daughter,  Beth Rader Fleming and husband Randall of Charleston, SC; sisters, Betty Rader Rutherford, Joyce Rader Northern and Helen Rader Taylor, all of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the service at the home of Sharon and Mike Barkdoll, 5407 Far Vista Lane, Knoxville. Baldwin, Edwin Harold age 88 of Rossville, Ga. passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003, at the Baptist Health Care Center in Lenoir City, TN.  He was a member of the Lakeview Church of Christ. A retired carpenter.  Ed was a veteran of W. W. II serving in the U. S. Army.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Baldwin and son, Dan Baldwin.  Survived by daughter, Deloris Moore of Clearwater, Fl.; sons, Ron Baldwin of Kingston, Tn. and Jackson Baldwin of Lakeside, Ca.; granddaughters, Jessie Wooldridge of Knoxville, Tn. and Robyn Baldwin of Douglaston, N.Y.; great granddaughter, McKenzie Wooldrige of Knoxville, Tn.; sisters, Anita Tingle of Rossville, Ga. and Mary Usmiller of Fl.; several nieces and nephews.  A private memorial service was held.  Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City, Tn. is serving the family of Ed Baldwin. 
McGhee, Sampson "Sonny" age 53 of Caryville, passed away Monday, July 21, 2003, at the U. T. Medical Center.  Preceded in death by father, Sampson McGhee Jr.; mother, Katie B. Davis, Lois Louise age 94 of Lenoir City passed away Monday, July 28, 2003 at the Parkwest Hospital.  She is survived by her son, Thomas E. Robison, Joe Garner – was born in Tullahoma, Tenn. on April 02, 1918 to the late Nath and Kate Robison. He was called to the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday July 30th, 2003. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Joe was a loyal and dedicated employee of Lenoir City Car Works for over 33 years. He was dearly loved and highly regarded by all. We rejoice in knowing that he has been reunited with his family who preceded him in death; his parents, the wife he adored for 54 years, Jessie Robison; sisters: Ovalee McKee, Mabel White, Catherine Marrs and Sophia McGaha; brother, Thomas Robison; daughter, Betty Faye Arden; infant sons, Joey Lynn and Gary Garner Robison; grandson, Danny Polson.
