| Stiffin, James Russell (Jim) age 79 of Knoxville, Tn, formerly of Marion, IA, went to be with the Lord away Sunday Morning, June 1, 2003 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Jim was retired from Century Engineering in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Lodge #83. He was of the Lutheran faith. Jim was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Air Corp in France, England and Germany. He was an avid gardener. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elsie Russell Stiffin; sister, June Stiffin; brother, Frank Stiffin. | Kirkland, Ronnie Cecil - age 64 of Greenback, went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, June 3, 2003 at his home. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. Ronnie served in the United States Army and was retired from Yale Security Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ike and Viola Kirkland; step mother, Ethel Kirkland; and brother, Billy Kirkland. | Hammontree, Mattie Plemons, age 97, of Lenoir City, died at her home on June 4, 2003, after a lingering illness. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Hammontree; her parents, Bertha Liles Plemons and Thomas Madison Plemons; brothers, Charlie Plemons and Allen Plemons. | Pipkin, Alyce Jayne age 79 of the Tellico Village Community, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday evening June 5, 2003 at her home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lenoir City. She loved her Sunday School Class (Fidelis Class) at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Biz DeRieux. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Doug Pipkin; children, Jimmie Pipkin and Janet Freeman both of Knoxville, Michael Pipkin of Lenoir City; granddaughters, Christian Freeman, Margo Hargis and Katelyn Pipkin; grandsons, Foster Freeman and Chance Hargis; three cousins, Mildred Ritchie, Lazelle Hopkins and Faye Wood all of West, Va. | Morris, Harold G. Jr. age 55 of Knoxville, formerly of Clark, NJ, passed away suddenly Saturday evening June 7, 2003 at Park West Hospital in Knoxville. Harold was a life long member of the Catholic faith. He graduated from St. Peter's College in Jersey City, New Jersey with a degree in accounting and business management. He served in the U.S. Air Force, as a Staff Sargent for six years. Harold had more than 30 years of experience in financial management including Senior Auditor for Main LaFrentz & Company, Certified Public Accountants in NYC, Controller/Treasurer of Chemical Separations Corp. in Knoxville, Group Controller for Macawber Engineering in Maryville, Controller/Treasurer of W. J. Savage Co. in Knoxville and President of Tengasco Inc. in Knoxville. He also gained a certification as a Certified Fraud Examiner. Harold had a fond interest for automobiles, especially antiques. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America. Harold was preceded in death by his father, Harold G. | Goley, Frances Ann age 80, of Lenoir City, Went home to be with the Lord Wednesday night, June 18, 2003 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by parents, Ben (Slick) and Nina Howard; husband, William H. (June) Goley; daughter, Thelma Bernice Goley (infant); and ten other brothers and sisters. Frances was a member of Huntsville Church of God. She was an active usher in her church and ushered funerals and other church/religious functions whenever she was called upon. | Shires, Franklin Walter (Frank) age 82 of Farragut, formerly of Obion, TN, passed away early Friday morning, June 20, 2003 at Park West Hospital. Frank was retired from T. V. A. hydro power production. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Navy as a fighter pilot aboard the aircraft carrier USS Franklin in the Pacific. Frank directed the Sheffield, AL, High School Band and Glee Club. He was a former Lions' Club member. He was a 35 year member of the National Speleological Society. He enjoyed ham radio (his call letters were W4FWS) and was a grateful Friend of Bill. | Hargis, John Edmund, age 91 of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, June 20, 2003. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as elder and Sunday school teacher. He retired from Union Carbide Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge after thirty years. He loved to write, enjoyed photography and was an excellent carpenter. He was formerly active with the Gideons and the Ruitan Club. Preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Ova Apple Hargis; brother, Leslie Hargis; sister, Mabel Dowell. He was a member of Kingston Pike Baptist Church. Freddie was a disabled W. W. II veteran serving with the U. S. Army. While serving in the Army he received a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with One Bronze Star and an AP Service Ribbon and Four Bronze Service Stars. age 68 of Knoxville passed away Sunday evening, June 29. Ken was born on November 21, 1934. He was a member of Fellowship Church in Knoxville, TN.
Ken was employed by Liberty Check Printing Inc. of Knoxville. He was a retired pastor and evangelist with the United Methodist Conference. His
present ministry, The Shepherd's Friend, was a part of a prayer network of Knoxville area pastors and leaders. Ken was pastor at the
Methodist Children's Home in Columbia, SC, Porters Chapel, Tabor, Mount Bethel, and Bethlehem Methodist Churches in Pickens, S.C. He was pastor of Walnut Grove
and Cornelius Methodist Churches and director and founder of Spartanburg Inner City Ministry in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Ken was preceded in
death by his parents, Basil Hallum Jr. and Edna G. Hubbard Callaham of Seneca, SC., his brother, Basil, and one grandchild, Hope Lovette Mount.
