Wolfe, Bertha M., age 82 of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday,  October 2, 2003, at her home.  She loved and served the Lord with all her heart.  A loving and devoted wife and mother.  She will be sadly missed by her many friends in the community where she was an active member of the GWFC Coytee Women's Club, the Loudon County Beautification Board and the Frank R. Strang Senoir Center Bridge Club.  Survived by her husband of 59 years, Horace B. Wolfe Jr.; daughter, Martha A. Jones and husband, Floyd of Fredericksburg, VA; sons, Randolph B. Jacobs, Jessie Elizabeth Williams of Lenoir City born November 6, 1914 passed away Monday, October 6, 2003 in Hickory, North Carolina.  She was a member of South Holston Baptist Church.  Retired from Charles H. Kirkpatrick, Charles A.  (Charlie) age 62of Farragut passed away October 10, 2003 at Ft. Sanders Parkwest Medical Center.    Charlie was a member of the Good Samaritan Episcopal Church.   He was a devout musician who adored the works of John Phillip Sousa, and he was very involved in  Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia He earned a BS degree from Tennessee Technological University and a Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  Charlie loved to fish with his son.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E and Ruth Kirkpatrick and sister, Brenda Kirkpatrick.  Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Eleanor Kirkpatrick; son Chuck Kirkpatrick and his wife Donna of Knoxville; granddaughter, Lindsey Kirkpatrick; brother, Kenneth E. Okvath, John Joseph III age 59 of Knoxville, passed away Sunday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospice. Opal Carroll Long, 81, died in a local nursing home Sunday morning, Oct 12, 2003. Mrs. Long was born on May 11, 1922 in Anniston, AL, the daughter of the late Virgie (Smith) and William Thomas Carroll. Her husband, Clyde Long preceded her in death in 1992. She grew up in Lenoir City, TN, and then lived all her married life in Calera, AL. She retired as a bookkeeper from the Calera School System, and just recently moved to NC to be near her sister. In her later years she truly loved traveling the US, and was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Mrs. Long is survived by her son, Phillip Long of Asheville; her daughter, Carroll Ann Thorn of Birmingham, AL; her sisters, Betty Burton of Asheville and Nancy Riley of Duncanville, TX; and 4 grandchildren. Vineyard, Anthony Lee (Tony) age 43, of Columbia, S.C. formerly of Lenoir City passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2003 in S. C.  He was self-employed.  Tony was preceded in death by parents, James R. and Hazel Quillen Vineyard.  He is survived by brothers, Ronnie M. Pollard, Raymond Lee, age 61, of Knoxville went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 18, 2003. Ray was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Concord.  He was an employee of BWXT-Y-12 for 24 years.  His interests were family, gardening, photography, genealogy, outdoors, amateur radio, computers, and music.  Ray served six years in the Air National Guard. O'Neal, Mary Belle Hartline, age 86 of Lenoir City, went to be with her Lord on October 19, 2003. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Nelson Street Baptist Church for many years. GROOMS , BLANCHE WILSON born March 12, 1912, was the child of Audley Rhea ("A.R.") Wilson and Edna Lewis Moore Wilson, at 407 Dawson Place, south Knoxville died Sunday evening, October 19, 2003 at the Little Creek Sanitarium at the age of 91.  The family was well-known and active in the old Graystone Presbyterian Church. Blanche was a charter member and Ruling Elder at Parkway Presbyterian, Sang in choirs and was active in Women of the Church throughout her life. In retirement, she worked with FISH of Knox County and was a Red Cross volunteer at Parkwest Hospital.  She attended old Knoxville High School, graduated from Young High School in 1930, attended Maryville College and Draughan's Business School, and graduated from U of Tennessee with B.A. in Education.  Blanche was married to Gordon A. Grooms of Seaman, Ohio at  Graystone Presbyterian Church, May 24, 1935. The couple met as students at Maryville College.  Upon marriage, Blanche Grooms moved to southern Ohio. In 1943 the family moved to Oak Ridge, Tenn, where Mr. Grooms was employed by Eastman Kodak and later Union Carbide. For several intervening years, the family lived in Florida, Moore Haven and then Inverness, where Mr. Grooms was a high school principal and she was the school secretary.  Blanche  taught in Knox County schools – Galbreath ‘32-'35 and later at several others including Hardin Valley, Ball Camp, Ridgedale, Cedar Bluff and Karns and retired in 1973.  The family purchased and operated a large farm in the HardinValley-Solway community in 1954 and remained there until Blanche moved to Shannondale's Retirement and Assisted Living facilities. In February, 2003, she moved to Little Creek Sanitarium on Northshore Drive.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon A. Grooms, siblings ,Eugene M. Wilson, Theron D. Wilson, Marshall A. Wilson, Catherine Wilson Kennette, Willett R. Wilson, H. Clark Wilson, and Dr. Frank E. Wilson.  Survivors: sister, Mary Wilson Clark of Maryville; children, Gaye Grooms Greer Honeycutt  and husband Kenneth E. of Knoxville, Gary A. Haskins. Rev. Thomas G. Sr. age 79 of Knoxville, formerly of Sweetwater, went home to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, October 22, 2003 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Tom retired from REVCO in 1989. He was a Southern Baptist Minister. He retired from Mt. View Baptist Church in 1986. For over 20 years he was "Tom the Barber" at the Marble Front and Farragut Hotel Barber Shops. He was a veteran of World War II serving with distinction in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Jupiter A K A 37. After seeing action in 8 separate battles, G.M.F.C. Haskins personally viewed the raising of the U S flag over Iwo Jima. He was a member of the American Legion Post #120 in Loudon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Florence Burton Haskins. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Haskins Snow and Clifford Snow of Oak Ridge; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas G. Whitlock, Wanda Jo of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at Blake Hospital in Bradenton.  She was born September 21, 1906 to Joseph and Bessie Moore Harvey.  She had resided in Bradenton since 1966.  Wanda was a member of West Bradenton Baptist Church since 1966 and the Order of Eastern Star for many years.  She was the widow of Mack Whitlock who preceded her in death in 1980 and her son, James who passed away in 1937. Reynolds, Harold Edward age 62 of Knoxville passed away suddenly Wednesday October 22, 2003. Harold was born July 18, 1941. He helped organize the Junior Golfers Association and was their first president.  He graduated from Knoxville Catholic High School Class of 1959 and was captain of the golf team. He attended East Tennessee State University where was captain of the golf team. Harold was a veteran of the U S Navy and was stationed in Hawaii for two years. He was editor of the sports section of the Navy Paper and played on the Navy golf team.  Harold was a retired PGA golf pro after 40 years in Castro Valley, California. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Thomas Reynolds Sr., Knoxville. Survivors: son, Andrew Reynolds of San Francisco, CA; mother, Mary R. Shewbrooks, John Burke (Jack) age 85 of Farragut passed away early Thursday  morning, October 23, 2003 at his home. Jack was born October 19, 1918 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was retired from TVA as a mechanical engineer. He was also a nautical engineer and worked in a ship yard as a certified electrician. For several years he was a yacht captain based out of Lighthouse Point, Florida. Jack was a boat racer of inboard hydro planes until he retired at the age of 64. He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U S Army. Jack was preceded in death by his twin brother, William and brother, Nevin. Bushong, Brent (Captain USN Retired) age 72 of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon passed away suddenly Thursday, October 23, 2003.  Brent was born October 3, 1931 to Guy and Beulah Bushong in Syracuse, Indiana.  Brent graduated from Purdue University and upon graduation and commissioning in 1953 reported directly to Naval Flight Training. He spent a total of 22 years in the U. S. Navy and on his way to Captain, he once commanded the largest carrier squadron in the Navy, comprised of over 500 officers and enlisted men.  As Executive Officer of USS INCHON, he circumnavigated the world, and was part of helicopter mine sweeping operations in both Vietnam and Egypt.  He retired in 1975, and was proud that two of his sons also earned commissions in the Navy.  He fell in love and married Dot in 1978, and they worked in Washington together for a number of years before retiring to the south.  Dot was instrumental in Brent returning to his Christian upbringing, and Brent put Jesus Christ at the center of his life. He and his wife were members of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City.  He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dorothy (Dot) Bushong; children, Greg Bushong and wife, Chris, Dave Bushong and wife, Carol, Bruce Bushong and wife, Jamie, and Carol Bushong Rix and husband, Matt; stepchildren, Barbara Collins and husband, Dale, Judd Medlen and wife, Karen, and Mark Medlen and wife, Allison; 16 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Folds of Syracuse, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Williams, Suzette Jean Luttrell age 39 of Knoxville went to be with Jesus on October 26, 2003 at Park West Hospital. Suzette was born in  Charleston, WVA but grew up in Knoxville. She was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Suzette was Teacher's Assistance with Rocky Hill Elementary School. She was a wonderful wife and mother and was always an encouragement to others. Everyone enjoyed her laughter. She will be dearly missed. Ervin, William Gordon age 84 of Loudon passed away Sunday, October 26, 2003 at the Parkwest Hospital.  Bill was a veteran of W. W. II serving in the U. S. Navy.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Ervin.  Survived by sons, Bob Ervin and wife, Darla of Seymour, Tommy Ervin and wife, Charley of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Nikki Johnson, Tyler Ervin and Neil Ervin; great grandchild, Ethan Shope; sisters, Rhea Jacobs, Lena Young, and Gena Young all of Sweetwater, Emma Davis of Canton, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City.  Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. McSpadden, Felton Eugene Sr. - age 88 of Loudon, passed away Monday, October 27, 2003 at the U. T. Hospice.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir City.  Felton was retired from Union Carbide after 33 years service.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of American Legion Post #70.  He was preceded in death by parents, James Ernest and Ella Battles McSpadden; first wife, Edna Johnson McSpadden; son, Felton Eugene McSpadden Jr.; sister, Edith Lipscomb and brother, Charles E. McSpadden.  Survived by his wife, Grace Alexander McSpadden; grandchildren, Laurie  McSpadden and Amy Fesmire of Denver, NC and Andrew McFadden of Conway, SC; two great grandchildren; stepchildren, Clara Alexander of Calhoun, TN, Bobby Alexander of Lenoir City, and Jerry Alexander of Loudon; sister, Verna Wilson of Ringgold, GA.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at Click Hawkins Chapel at 102 B. Street in Lenoir City with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Bobby Lockwood officiating.  Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Loudon Co. Brewer, Minnie Lou "Doll" - age 87 of Lenoir City passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at her home.  She was a member of Northside Church of God.  Preceded in death by her husband, E. C. (Clint) Brewer; and daughter, Anna Lou Lowe.  She is survived by her daughters, Betty Baughman, Martha Jaynes both of Lenoir City and Mary Ruth Crotts and husband, Carlton of Asheboro, N.C.; sons, Ronnie Brewer and wife, Gail, Tommy Wayne Brewer all of Lenoir City, and Jerry Brewer of Delano, TN; brother, Fate Evans; sister, Gertrude Coffman; 20 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren; special nurse, Sheila Risher.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hawkins Chapel.  Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the Hawkins Chapel with Rev. Maynard Scott and Rev. Ford, Caleb Joshua (Butterball) age 6 of Knoxville  passed away Wednesday evening, October 29, 2003 at East Tennessee Children's Hospital. Caleb  attended Westside Church of God.  He was a student in the CDC Class at Brickey Elementary School.  Caleb was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by grandfather, Buddy Ford. Survivors: parents, David and Jamia Key Ford of Knoxville; brothers, Skylar, Jacob and Zachary Ford; sister, Shelby Ford; grandparents, Joan Parker of Knoxville, James Key of Loudon, Pauline Washam of Knoxville; great grandparents, Mary Sims of Hall, Jim Key of Corryton, James and Mildred Freeman of Tellico Plains; great great grandfather, Charles Freeman of Etowah;several aunts and uncles.  The family will receive friends from 5-6:45 p.m. Friday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel followed by funeral services at 7 p.m. with Rev. Roberts, Lawrence R. - age 79 of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2003 at the home of his daughter. He was a member of The Christian Church of Loudon County. He was a 50 year member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union # 102 and a 50 year member of Avery Masonic Lodge #593 F&AM in Lenoir City where he was a 32nd Degree Mason.  He was a member of the Shriners and Kerbela Temple. A former employee of TVA. Lawrence was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Navy on the USS Biloxi. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Jessie Ruth Roberts; parents, James and Vivian Roberts; sister, Nadine Turner.  Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Sherry Richeson and her husband, Michael; grandsons, Chris and Kevin Richeson; brother, John Roberts and sister, Vivian Roberts all of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Saturday morning in the Lenoir City Cemetery for graveside services and interment with Rev. Andrew Ballew officiating.
