| Stahlman, Paul V. (Lt. Colonel Ret., United States Air Force) - of Lenoir City, passed away September 2, 2004. Paul was born June 14,1919, in Irwin, PA to Edward R. and Margaret( Davidson) Stahlman. He was a pilot for Pan American before joining the Air Force in 1946. His military service took him around the globe including serving as a pilot in the Philippines, Korea and Vietnam. He retired as Lieutenant Colonel in 1969, after a 26 year career that earned him the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, along with various other medals. Following his retirement, Mr. Stahlman continued his flying career by teaching flying lessons through the Air Force Academy Aero Club. He was a Boy Scout Leader taking scouts to the Grand Canyon, Grand Tetons and canoeing in Canada and numerous other locations. Paul loved the outdoors, reading, traveling and had an interest in genealogy. In July of 1999 , he and his wife moved from Black Forest, Colorado to Tennessee. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille and his daughter, Carleen. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth; his four children: Col.(Dr.) Richard Stahlman (Kathryn) of Edwards AFB, CA, Edward Stahlman (Lori) of Gresham, OR, Martha Stahlman of Denver, CO, Margaret Davis (Graham) of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 7,2004, at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection with Rev. SuZanne Seavey officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Family and friends will gather at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery for graveside services and interment with full military honors being conferred by the United States Air Force. - age 86 of Lenoir City passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2004 at Ft.
Sanders Loudon Medical Center. He was a life long member of Central United
Methodist Church. A retired franchise owner for the Hollymatic Corporation
and former owner of Blackburn’s Meat Market in Lenoir City. Ralph was a
Tech-Sergeant serving in the U. S. Army during W. W. II with the 16th Armor
Division in Germany and in Czechoslovakia. He was the first Commander of the
V.F.W. in Lenoir City, a member of the American Legion and former member of
the Lenoir City Civitan Club. Preceded in death by parents, E. R. and Addie
Lee Blackburn; brothers, Clarence and Kenneth Paul Blackburn. Survived by
his wife of 64 years, Naomi Adams Blackburn; daughter, Marietta Henderson
and husband, Jeff of Lenoir City; sons, Richard Blackburn and wife, Deborah
of Gallatin Gateway, Montana, Michael Blackburn and wife, Connie of
Kingston, and Edwin Blackburn of Lenoir City; grandchildren, David and Ellen
Blackburn; sisters, Faye Fox of Virginia, Nelle Solomon and Alice Harrison
both of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Special family friends,

| Werner, Joyce L. of Farragut, TN, passed away Wednesday morning, September 8, 2004, in the loving presence of her daughter, Deborah, sister, Judith and nieces, Helen Neri, Betty Wetmore and Judy Dana. Joyce was born in Hartford Connecticut to Carsten and Judith Skau. She grew up in Madison, Connecticut and leaves many friends and relatives in the area. Joyce is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Michael Bunner and granddaughter Ashley all of Farragut; granddaughter Amanda Rossman and husband Eric of Portland, Oregon; son Anthony Lombardi, grandson Nicholas and granddaughter Brianna of Deep River, Connecticut. Joyce also leaves her sister, Judith Rist of Clinton, Connecticut as well as many nieces and nephews. Known as Grammy by many of us, she had a special love for her three step-granddaughters, Tracy Bixby, Kelly Bunner and Shannon Bunner. Great granddaughter, Lauren Bixby recently met Grammy Joyce and the two fell instantly in love with one another. Joyce was preceded in death by son Craig Werner, her parents, brothers Carsten and Bert and sisters Jane Taylor and Helen Ziobron. She loved Nascar racing, Titans football, and the Houston Astros. Joyce was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, whose sharp sense of humor was disarming. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the entire staff of Adventa Hospice, especially Joyce's nurse Blanche Tuell and patient aide Cindy Johnson. They are wonderfully compassionate professionals. Joyce was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. A private service will be held in Connecticut. - age 68 of
Lenoir City, passed away Sunday morning, September 12, 2004, after a
courageous battle with lung cancer. He served as deacon at Kingston Pike
Baptist Church and was a member of Avery Masonic Lodge #593 F&AM in Lenoir
City. A retired supervisor with Loudon County State Highway Department. Jack
was an avid crappie fisherman and hunter. Survivors include his devoted wife
of 47 years, Phyllis Belcher Johnson; children: Arlene Rodriguez and
husband, Gilbert of Greenback, Jackyie Bivens and husband, Donnie of
Friendsville, Connie Porter and husband, Marty of Knoxville, Jimmy Johnson
and fiancee’, Kim of Lenoir City; sister, Esther Goodwin and husband, Wimpy
of Houston, TX; 8 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 7 great grandchildren,
several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.

Baker, Pete
age 43 of Concord, son of Janie Baker and the late G. C. Baker, passed away
Monday evening, September 13, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospice Center after a long
courageous battle with cancer. In addition to his mother, Pete is survived
by his partner and endless love, Beverly R. Cockrum, with whom he made his
home, and their faithful dog Oscar; brother, Chuck Baker of Concord; sister,
Nancy Rogers of Maryville; Claire, Cindy, Marsha and Mark all of Phoenix AZ;

Davis, James Hardin
- age 64 of Lenoir City, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday,
September 15, 2004 at 1:20 a.m. at his home after losing his battle with
lung cancer. He retired as Vice-President of Cash Management at First
Tennessee Bank after 30 + years of service. He was recently baptized by
Rev. Kenneth Carpenter of First Apostolic Church of Maryville. He enjoyed
golfing, fishing, cooking and vacationing with family at Navarre Beach. He
was preceded in death by his father, Reid F. Davis. Survived by his wife of
41 years, Dortha Smith Davis; two daughters, Jamie Davis and Fiancee’, Joe
Roberts, Amy Cook and husband, David Cook; mother, Martha Davis of MS.;
sisters, Reida Hayes and husband, Nick of N.C., Sarah Wood and husband,
Richard of MS.; brother, Charles Davis and wife, Bonnie of MS.;
grandchildren, Kaelyn, Kalley and Kara Cook; several nieces and nephews.

Szabo, Edward Thomas,
succumbed to lung cancer at the young age of 63 on Friday, September 17,
2004. His brave battle of 21 months ended at home with his family at his
side. Ed and his wife Joyce relocated from Brighton, MI to Rarity Bay,
Vonore, TN in March of 2002. Ed was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle
Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Ed was commissioned as a
Lieutenant and served in the US Navy from 1963–1967. His subsequent career
in the Information Technologies industry spanned over 40 years. He is
preceded in death by parents: Anna and Andrew Szabo, and survived by his
wife of 35 years, Joyce, sister Carol Banaszak, brothers-in-law Griff
Banaszak and Joe Lamberth, sisters-in-law Nancy Lamberth, Sandra
Shellenberger, one nephew, two nieces and numerous cousins. Friends and
family will meet from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 19th in the Narthex of
St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. A prayer service will follow at 6
p.m.. The funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 20, at 10:30 a.m.

| Souder, Rudy Vallie (R.V.) age 74 of Lenoir City, formerly of Rome, GA, passed away early Thursday morning, September 23, 2004 at Baptist Hospital West. R.V. was a member of Meridan Baptist Church in Knoxville. He was a member of the Optimist Club in South Knoxville for many years. R.V. was an avid golfer and was a member of Holston Hills Country Club for 18 years and a member of the Avalon Golf Community for six and a half years. He was an employee of Rome Hardware for several years. He established the builders hardware division for William S. Trimble in Knoxville and retired after 34 years of service as Executive Vice President. R. V. was a veteran of the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Shea DM30 from 1947 to 1951. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Pearl Souder; sister, Lou Emma Hicks; brothers, Kyle, Harold and Ladell Souder. Survivors: wife of 54 years, Nell Ozment Souder; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki Souder Thurman and Don of Knoxville, Karen Souder Davis and husband C. | Ashley, L. Forrest - age 85 of Lenoir City, formerly of Clendenin, West VA, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2004 at his home. He was a member of Advent Christian Church in Clendenin. Forrest retired from Columbia Gas after 46 years service. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force during W. W. II. A 32nd Degree Mason and former mayor of Clendenin. Preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, Herbert, Oral and Garnet Ashley. Tennessee. Minnie was born in Greene County, TN on July 2, 1922 to Roderick
Luthur and Ada Pearl (Isom) Cochraham. She was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Minnie faithfully
attended Concord AME Zion Church. In addition to her parents, Minnie was
preceded in death by her husband, James Haskell Jeter; sons, Johnny Dee and
Tommy Joe Cochraham; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Billingsley, Ada

| Halliburton, James Allen (Jim) age 72 of Knoxville departed this life Tuesday morning, September 28, 2004 to be with his Heavenly Father. Jim was born on September 3, 1932 to the late James Earl and Marie Halliburton. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jim was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority, a former TN State Trooper and was President of Heart Support of America. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the Navy. He enjoyed gospel music and had a beautiful tenor voice. Survivors include his precious and devoted wife of 49 years whom he adored, Dale Halliburton; daughter, Pajet B. | Scarlett, Taylor Nicole - infant child of David and Dawn Raby Scarlett of Lenoir City passed away Monday, September 27, 2004. She is survived by parents; grandparents, Eddie Raby of Philadelphia, Wilma Raby of Loudon, George and Sherry Scarlett of Lenoir City; uncles and aunts, George and Angie Scarlett, Joy Raby, Amy Scarlett, Michelle and Tom Huffman, Jeannine and Scott Hinkle and Robert Crawford; several cousins. | Russell, Clara Cannon age 77 of the Karns Community, Knoxville passed away Thursday morning, September 30, 2004 at her home on Emory Road. Clara was a former member of the Solway Church of God. She loved to fish and play poker with her friends. Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Russell; son, David Russell; parents, Ed and Augusta Newcombe Cannon; sisters, Rosella Cannon and Frances Russell Raby; brother, Frank Cannon; half brothers, Bill Dunaway, George Barger. Survivors: daughter, Pam Ragan of Knoxville; grandchildren, Dianna Worsham and husband Kelly, Patrick Ragan and wife Rene, Bridget Russell and Nicholas Russell; great grandchildren, Cody and Allen Worsham and Athena Ragan; sister, Carrie Riddle and husband, Howard of MS; several nieces and nephews; special poker players, Harold and Sandy Russell, Dot Bernander and Peggy Reynolds. Palmer, Gregory
K. age 17of Farragut went home to be
with the Lord Wednesday afternoon, September 29, 2004 as a result of an
automobile accident. Greg was an organ donor. He was a Senior at Farragut
High School. He was a member of First Baptist Church Sevierville and also
attended Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Greg was an employee of
Westgate Resort in Gatlinburg. He loved cars, fishing and country music.
Greg was full of life, always a happy person with a smile on his face. He
loved spending time with his friends and family. Greg was preceded in death
by his great grandparents, Carl and Sarah Major. Survivors: mother and step
father, Lori and Randy Stevens of Farragut; father and step mother, Greg and
Jeanette Palmer of Knoxville; step brothers, Joshua and Jayson; step
sisters, Kristen and Shareen; grandparents, Betty Marshall of Clinton, Jack
and Nancy Palmer of Seymour; great grandparents, Hobart and Aileen Palmer of
Knoxville; several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive
friends from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday followed by a Celebration of Life at 3
p.m. at the Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Leonard Turner,
Rev. Nick Coker and Randy Davis officiating. Family and friends will gather
at 11 a.m. Monday at Roseberry Cemetery for graveside services. Honorary

Knoxville passed away Thursday, September 30, 2004 at Brakebill Nursing Home
in Knoxville. She was a member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church. Retired
from Miller’s Dept. Store. Alma worked at Parkwest Medical Center as a
volunteer. Preceded in death by parents, John and Mary McKinney Shaver;
sisters, Pauline Barger and Helen Littleton; brother, Alvin Shaver. She
leaves behind a daughter, Judy Coleman; granddaughter, Kelley Miller and
husband, Sid; great grandchildren, Danielle, Sean and Cody Miller all of
Knoxville; brother, Calvin Shaver of Lenoir City; nephews, Carson Barger,
Van Shaver and Mitch Littleton; nieces, Ouida Click and Janie Shaver. The
