Skaggs, Chester Fredrick, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday morning October 8, 1999 at Park West Hospital. Fred was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force with over twenty years of service as a flight engineer. A veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Fred also retired from Japan Air Lines as a cockpit crew instructor and later flew for Singapore Air Lines. He was a member of Avery Lodge # 593 F&AM, Shriners and York Rite. Gooden, Alice Suzanne (Suzy) (Kreme) (Ethel) Waychoff age 48 of Gatlinburg, formerly of Chattanooga, Born May 20, 1951, Died October 13, 1999. Beautiful daughter of L.K. and Mary Jo Gooden, granddaughter of Floyd and Ida Gooden , Judge and Mrs. Joe F. Goodson. Wild times and free being marked her life and gave all who met her fantastic memories and overwhelming feelings of joy. Since her 1969 graduation from City High School in Chattanooga, and attendance at Tennessee Weslyan, she stretched her legs and found her way across this country too many times to count. She found her passion and exercised it at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. From that point on, a true artist walked among us. She moved from place to place, exploring and capturing the world. But the only place that was home was the Smokies. It is where she always returned and where she will always rest. Still missing her are her husband, Bob, children, Anna and Aaron, Mother, Mary Jo, Brothers, Joe and Sam and too many blood brothers and sisters to count. Velte, Bernard Ernest Jr., age 61 of the Tellico Village Community Loudon Tennessee, formerly of West Branch MI., Louisville KY., Tomball TX., Pascagoula MS., and Corning N.Y., passed away suddenly Thursday October 21, 1999 while visiting in Munising Michigan. Born in West Branch Michigan he attended high school there and then attended Graceland College in Lamoni Iowa and Tri-State Engineering University in Indiana where he received a Civil Engineering degree. Barney was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and currently attended the Tellico Village Community Church in Loudon. He worked for Saint Gobain/Norton Industries as a Senior Application Engineer. His interests included a love of music, and of nature and he was an avid fisherman, bow hunter and golfer. Barney was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Ernest Velte Sr. A devoted husband, son and father, he is survived by his wife, Barbara Bauer Velte. Spoon, Kenneth H., age 71 of Lenoir City, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, October 23, 1999. Kenneth retired from Lenoir City Utilities and spent his retirement years playing golf, fishing, bowling and enjoyed singing in his church. Kenneth’s home church was Primitive Baptist Church but he frequently attended Highland Park Baptist with his children. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Spoon, sister, Alberta Aikens and brother, Hubert Spoon.  Kenneth was a loving father to Dru and Lee Ellis, Becky Scarbrough, Janie and Rev. Tony Collins and Ken and Lisa Spoon. He was the proud grandfather of David and Joy Ellis, Christin Cooley, Justen and Eric Collins and great grandfather to Kayla Cooley who could always put a smile on his face. Others left to cherish all the memories are; The mother of his children, Amanda Spoon, his mother, Ruth Spoon, devoted sisters and brothers-in law, Mable and Clarence Brown, Nancy and Wayne Richardson, Judy and Harold Hembree. Ellison, Clara Williams, age 92 of 615 West Broadway, Lenoir City passed away Tuesday, October 26, 1999 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Lenoir City, where she had lived her entire life before going to Asbury Center, Johnson City two years ago. Mrs. Ellison was a daughter of the late Samuel and Pauline Smith Williams. She had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 79 years, where she had taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of the church choir and was active in Baptist Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Ellison in 1982. Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Patsy E. Pitts, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Nancy E. and Ted A. Beach of Johnson City; three grandsons and a great granddaughter-in-law, Bret F. Beach of Johnson City, Barry A. Henline, Exie, age 87 of Lenoir City passed away Tuesday morning October 26, 1999 at the Farragut Health Care Center. Exie was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie A. Henline; son, Esten C. Henline; daughter-in-law, Betty Itson Henline, brothers, Cecil and Roy Cusick; sister, Laurie Bailey. Survivors: son, Esco Austin Henline of Asheboro, North Carolina; daughter-in-law, Doris Martin Henline of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Cindy and Rick McElreath, Pam Henline, Mark and Lisa Henline all of North Carolina, Ruth Ann Henline Humphreys, Sarah and Jeff Powell all of Lenoir City; great grandchildren, Paige and Will Henline, Jason Martin Click, Hanna and Corey Powell, Benjamin and Mattie Humphreys; brother, Clarence Cusick of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Vasofsky, Dr. Marie-Therese Verheye,  Age 51 of Loudon Tennessee passed away Tuesday October 26, 1999 at the University Of Tennessee Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. Dr. Verheye was a General Surgeon with a private practice in Loudon County from 1979 until her retirement in early 1998. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City. Dr. Verheye was born October 29, 1947 in Kortrijk Belgium to Ghislain and Christine Libbrecht Verheye. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jan, Paul and Tom Verheye; Sister, Anne Verheye. Survivors: husband, Richard Vasofsky. Children, Randy, Rodel and Maria Lyn Vasofsky all of Loudon. Brother, Peter Verheye and sister, Christine Verheye both of Belgium. Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The body will lie in state from 9:30 to 10 A.M. Saturday October 30, 1999 at the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church followed by a Mass of the resurrection at 10 A.M. Tucker, Raymond G., age 67 of Loudon passed away Monday October 25, 1999 at NHC Place Cavett Hill in Farragut. Raymond was of the Baptist faith. A veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the Army. He was a past exhalted Ruler of B P O Elks in Riverhead, New York. A member of Moose Lodge of Riverhead, New York. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, J. Raymond and Edna M. Tucker. Survivors: sisters, Helen Navas of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Evelyn Kouri of Riverhead, N.Y.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Constance Tucker of Naples, Fla., Richard Tucker of Palmetto, Fla., Ronald and Kathleen Tucker of Loudon; several nieces and nephews. Williams, Bobby James, age 68 of Lenoir City passed away Thursday morning, October 28, 1999 at the Loudon Health Care Center. He was a member of Nelson Street Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mattie Graves Williams; brother, Ernest Williams; sister, Betty Shubert. Survived by sisters, Opal Ellis, Knoxville, Dot Belcher, Mary Dishner and Katie Boll all of Lenoir City; brother, Charles Williams of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Thacker, Georgia Belle Hudson, age 88 of Kingston passed Saturday evening October 30, 1999 at the home of her daughter. Georgia was a lifelong member of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Thacker; Son, Bobbby Thacker; parents, Samuel and Tennessee Davis Hudson, sisters, Myrtle Justice and Thelma Fritts ; brother, Clifton Hudson. Survivors: daughters, Hazel Cook of Kingston and Frankie Nicks of Nashville. 9 grandchildren. Five great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. The body will lie in state from 10 to 11 A.M. Tuesday at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on Lawnville Road Kingston with funeral services to follow at 11 A.M. Rev. Ronald Nickell officiating.
