age 72 of Lenoir City passed away suddenly Thursday morning December 2,
1999 at his home. Ray was retired from Union Carbide in Loudon with 28
years of service. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Navy.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Alva Dailey Arden.

Robison, Mae Ree Bivens
age 82 of Lenoir City, formerly of Greenback, passed away suddenly
Tuesday evening November 30, 1999 in Mission Viejo California. Mae was a
member of Morganton Baptist Church in Greenback but attended Highland Park
Baptist Church in Lenoir City. She was preceded in death by husband,
Charles Gordon Bivens. Parents, James Isaac and Buelah Everett Simpson.
Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Alice Bivens of Lenoir City.
Daughter-in-law, Shirley and Gene Myers of Mission Viejo California.

age 55 of Lenoir City passed away suddenly early Thursday morning December
2, 1999 at Park West Hospital. He was a former Lenoir City Policeman and
Police Chief with 11 years of service. An employee of Ingles in
Sweetwater. He also served with the Army. Donald Ray was preceded in death
by his parents, Roy and Blanche Cavett Watkins. Survivors: Daughter,
Donette Watkins of Kansas. Sons, Tony Watkins of Junction City Kansas,
Chris Watkins and wife Anita of Lenoir City. Grandchildren, Victoria

Gray, Shirley Reed, age
74 of Lenoir City, formerly of Richville New York, passed away Thursday
December 2, 1999 at the home of her son. Shirley was a member of St. John
Neumann Catholic Church in Farragut . She was born June 14, 1925 in
Alexandria Bay New York to Walter and Frances MacDonald Reed. She
graduated from Redwood High School class of 1942 in Red Wood New York and
the A. Barton Hepburn Nursing School Class of 1945. She was married to
Arthur Leonard Gray on November 10, 1945 and was preceded in death by him
on January 9, 1990. Shirley was a private duty nurse for many years. She
and her husband owned and operated A. Leonard Gray Auctioneering and Real
Estate and the Gray Homestead Dairy Farm in Richville New York. She also
worked as a social worker for the St. Lawrence County Department of Social
Services in the child protection unit from 1968 until 1982. Survivors:
Sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur Lynn and Janice Gray of Lenoir City,
Eric Leonard and Denise Gray of Acworth Georgia. Daughters and
sons-in-law, Sonia Gail Davis of Pensacola Florida, Linda Jane and Charles

(Kathy), age 56 of Concord passed away quietly Tuesday afternoon
December 7, 1999 at Park West Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
Kathy attended Virtue Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate
of the University of Tennessee. A loyal member of the Park West Forty
Club. Kathy was an interior decorator and owner of Sun Dance Interiors.
She worked with many charitable events and especially loved, and was
involved in, the Fort Loudon Special Kids Christmas Party. Kathy was
preceded in death by her father, Charles E. Rowe. She leaves behind her
loving family: Husband of 36 years, Randy C. Edgemon. Daughters, Jody
Edgemon of Knoxville, Kelly Edgemon of Park City Utah. Son and
daughter-in-law, Casey and Amy Edgemon of Lenoir City. Mother, Cleo Rowe

(Pete), age 71 of Crossville, TN. passed away Tuesday evening,
December 7, 1999 at U. T. Medical Center. Pete and Jean moved from New
York State to Crossville in 1984. He was of the Methodist Faith. A retired
meat cutter and he worked with the bridge division with New York State
thruway. Pete was a veteran of U. S. Air Force serving in W. W. II. A
lifetime D. A. V. member. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Preceded in

Jones, age 90 of 680 Pinecrest Circle Lenoir City, passed away
Wednesday afternoon December 8, 1999 at Park West Hospital. Ambrose was a
member of Virtue Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A veteran of World War II
serving with the Army Airborne Divison as a glider pilot. Ambrose was an
employee of Charles H. Bacon and Standard Knitting Mills for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Alma Linginfelter

Dishner, Willis Lee
(Fisher), age 80 of the Cave Creek Community passed away early Friday,
December 10, 1999 at his home surrounded by his family. Willis was born
October 23, 1919 in Loudon Co. He was a well known and respected member of
the community. He worked on the railroad for forty years until his
retirement. He had been self-employed until this past year. A member of
New Providence Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Grace (Ditmer)
Dishner. Parents, Ernest and Pearl (Reynolds) Dishner. Three brother and
four sisters. He is survived by his brother Mr. and Mrs. Freeman (Russ)
Dishner of Lenoir City. Sisters, Josephine Denzel of Dayton Ohio, Mr. And
Mrs. Jack (Sis) Lee of Lenoir City; Children; Mr. and Mrs. Richard (
Dollena) Buckley of Peoria, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Larry Dishner of
Logansport, Ind., Mr. and Mrs. Jim (Karen) Martin of Lake Placid, Fla.,
Mr. and Mrs. Dale (Nettie Mae) Bosworth of Loudon Co. Grandson Brandon
Dishner who lived with him and fourteen other grandchildren. Sixteen
great- grandchildren also survive. Willis loved his wife and family

for many years. He was retired from Charles H. Bacon with over 45 years of
service. Earl was an avid farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife,

age 73 of Lenoir City Tn., formerly of Floyd County Kentucky, passed away
Friday moring December 17, 1999 at Park West Hospital in Knoxville Tn.
Charlie was a member and deacon of Friendship Baptist Church in Lenoir
City. A veteran of World War II serving with the Navy. He was preceded in
death by father, Frank Johnson. Brothers, Robert and Bill Johnson.
Survivors: Wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Haywood Johnson. Daughters and
sons-in-law, Diane and Danny Myers, Lovella and David McKinnon all of
Statham Ga. Mother, Cindy Sloan Johnson of Loudon Tn. Grandchildren,
Jessica and Cody Myers, Marty Spruill and Tommy Spruill. Sisters, Alice
Johnson Hicks, Pokie Johnson Vineyard, Della Johnson Ousley and twin
sister, Goldie Johnson Flanery. Brothers, Alec Johnson of Ohio, Ruben

Bedford Texas. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lloyd
(Dick) Smith in 1981. Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Katheryn and
Gerald Maddex of Bedford Texas. Son, Robert Smith of Dayton Ohio.

Flanagan, Glenn Earl,
age 69 of Lenoir City passed away Sunday morning December 19, 1999 at his
home. Glenn was a member of Hensleys Chapel Primitive Baptist Church and
Loudon V F W # 5150. A veteran of the Korean conflict serving with the
Army. He was retired from Maremont Corp. with 25 years of service. Glenn
was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Burton Flanagan and Nina Pearl
Hobbs Flanagan. Survivors: wife of 43 years, Barbara (Bobbie) Wiggins
Flanagan. Sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kay Flanagan of Loudon,

age 92 of Lenoir City, formerly of Grand Junction, passed away suddenly
Tuesday morning December 21, 1999 at her home. Edith was a member of
Trinity United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women and was a member
of the Eastern Star. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E.
Smalley Sr. Son, Auby Mitchell Smalley. Sisters, Ruth Best and Virginia
Wilson. Survivors: Sons, Walter E. Smalley and wife, Betty of Lenoir City,
Willie Joe Smalley, with whom she made her home. Daughters and

83 of 303 Poplar Street Lenoir City passed away Tuesday morning December
21, 1999 at her home. Nova was a member of Nelson Street Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Odie Clay Russell and Josie
Breeden Russell. Son, Chester Lee Helton. Survivors: Husband of 53 years,
Clarence Malone. Son, Junior (Gene) Helton of Knoxville, Daughters and

Stuve, Sally Ann
Bishop, age 66 of the Tellico Village Community Loudon Tennessee,
formerly of Frankfort Indiana, passed away Wednesday morning December 22,
1999 at her home. Sally was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic
Church in Lenoir City Tennessee. A former jewelry designer at Ellis
Jewelers in Frankfort. A medical records librarian at Pontiac General
Hospital in Pontiac Michigan and St. Vincents Hospital in Billings
Montana. Sally was a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington. She
was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Paul Stuve and father, Milton
Bishop. Survived by husband of 44 years, Alexander Stuve of the Tellico
Village Community. Children, Eric M. Stuve and wife, Monika, of Seattle
Washington, Thomas E. Stuve and fiancee’ Nancy Eaton, of Fort Collins

age 91 of the New Providence Community Loudon passed away Wednesday
afternoon December 22, 1999 at Park West Hospital. Hazel was a member of
New Providence Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Rev. Ray Shaver. Grandson, Randy Shaver. Survivors: Children and spouses,
Johnny and Louise Shaver of Loudon, Billy and Betty Shaver, Joe and Sue
Shaver, Joyce Norris all of Loudon. 14 grandchildren. 11 great

Carl Hines. Survived by sister, Maxine Hines Issacs; brother, Kenneth
(Nig) Hines, both of Lenoir City; sisters-in-law, Effie Hines of
Morristown and Helen Hines of Loudon; several nieces and nephews. The

December 22, 1999 at Park West Hospital. Obil was a member of Friendship
Baptist Church. He was retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory and was
a member of Carpenters Local # 50. Obil was a member of Avery Lodge #593
and Scottish Rites Bodies for over 50 Years and was a 33rd
degree mason. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence N. Park

Survivors: Faithful wife of 61 years, Lorene Hobbs Park. Children and

Bernice C., age 81 of Lewiston, Maine formerly
of Lenoir City passed away Wednesday afternoon December 22, 1999 in
Lewiston, Maine. Bernice was born in Little Falls New Jersey on April 15,
1918, the daughter of Walter and Frances Van Gieson Yahn. She was married
to Clifford Baird and resided with him in Lenoir City for 17 years, prior
to moving back to Lewiston six years ago. Bernice was a member of Court
Street Baptist Church in Lewiston. She had a love for flowers, gardening,
cross stitching and making crafts and also enjoyed traveling, sightseeing
and most of all spending time with her family, especially her
grandchildren. She is survived by daughters, Frances Michaud of Salem N.H.
and Nancy Wilson of Bailey Island ME. Son, Robert Wilson of Colorado
Springs CO. Eight grandchildren. Ten great grandchildren. Funeral services

1999 at his home. Dwight was retired from Caterpillar Inc., in Peoria and
was a member of the U A W. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion
and Grace Boyer Waters. Brother, Leon Waters. Survivors: wife of 27 years,

| Thompson, Dr. Howard
Arnold, age 69 of Monroe North Carolina, formerly of Lenoir City,
passed away Wednesday December 29, 1999 in Monroe. Howard was retired from
Wingate University in Wingate N.C. He had also taught at Georgetown
College in Georgetown Ky. He was a graduate of Carson Newman, Eastern
Kentucky University and George Peabody at Vanderbilt. In addition to being
a college professor, he was a Baptist minister. He was preceded in death
by his parents, Leland Lincoln Thompson Sr. and Mattie Bowden Thompson.
Brother, Lee Thompson II. Survivors: wife, Carolyn Chick Thompson. Sons,
Mark, Howie and Chad Thompson. Step children, Kathy Moore and Steve Moore.
Granddaughter, Steffi Offutt. Sister-in-law, Janice Thompson of Lenoir
