Lawson, Paul Lee MSGT.
(E-8) U.S. Army Ret., age 69 of Lenoir City, formerly of Clarksville,
passed away Wednesday evening March 1, 2000 at Ft. Sanders Regional
Medical Center in Knoxville. Paul was retired from the U.S. Army 101St
Airborne Division with 24 years of service. He served in Korea, Vietnam
and Europe, and was a Purple Heart Recipient. Paul was a museum technician
for the Don F. Pratt Museum at Ft. Campbell, Ky. for 20 years after his
retirement from the Army. He was a member of the Lenoir City Cumberland
Presbyterian Church. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert
and Ruby Helton Lawson. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean
Fletcher Lawson. Daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Larry Cline of Ft. Lee
Va.. Son and daughter-in-law, Frederick and Jennifer Lawson of Lenoir
City. Grandchildren, Katie and Patrick Cline, Christopher and Eric Lawson.
Sister, Mary L. Vanzant of Kingsport. Brother, Tom Lawson of Castlewood

| Mashburn, Raymond V., age 89 of Beals Chapel Road Lenoir City passed away Thursday morning March 2, 2000. Raymond was a member and Deacon of Beals Chapel Baptist Church and taught the Adult Sunday School Class for many years. He was a member of Oriental Lodge #453 F&AM in Knoxville. Stiles, James Paul,
age 67 of Lenoir City, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Thursday evening
March 2, 2000 at his home. James was of the Christian faith. He was owner
of Stiles Real Estate. In 1999 he was voted favorite home town real estate
broker. James was preceded in death by parents, William Thomas and Algie
Schultz Stiles. Brother, Bill Stiles. Sisters, Cora Shipwash and Louise
Williams. Survivors: wife of 37 years, Faye Moats Stiles. Children and

| Coleman, Bob J., age 68 of Farragut passed away Sunday, March 5, 2000 at Park West Hospital. Bob was a charter member of the Loudon County Christian Church. He was a former owner of Volunteer Boat Works and of RHEBO Equipment for many years and presently owned Knoxville U-Cart Concrete. Bob was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a graduate of Bearden High School and attended the University Of Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mary Coleman. March 9, 2000 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. Alta was a member of
the First Baptist Church, the Friendship Club and Alpha Beta Chapter of
Sigma Phi Sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. J. Smith,
Sr.; parents, Charlie and Clara Mills Hammons, and sister, Irene Hammons
Gambrel. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, A. J. Smith, Jr. and Jo Ann

| Clarke, Addie Ruth, age 80 of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday evening March 11, 2000 at Loudon Health Care Center. Addie Ruth was a long time member of the First Baptist Church. She was a past president of the Lenoir City Pilot Club and served multiple terms as president of the Lenoir City Clionian Club. In the latter position, she contributed significant to the relocation and improvement of the Lenoir City Public Library. Addie Ruth was an employee of the Loudon County government, retiring from the Office of the County Court Clerk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Adair Clarke. | Habib, Dr. S. M. Afzal, age 89 of Knoxville passed way on Sunday, March 12, 2000, at his home. Dr. Habib was born in Abbottabad, Pakistan on April 13, 1910. He completed his undergraduate studies in Bombay, India, performed his residency at the Columbia University Psychiatric Institute in New York, and received his psychiatric medical license in Bombay, India. Dr. Habib was engaged in private psychiatric practice in Pakistan for more than 25 years. He came to Knoxville in 1975 and began his second career as a staff psychiatrist at the Lakeshore Mental Health Institute. He retired from Lakeshore in 1985. Dr. Habib was an active Rotarian both in Pakistan and here in Knoxville. He was an avid jeweler, sculptor, and member of the Gem Club. Dr. Habib is survived by Dorothy Arnold Habib, his wife of 49 years, son and daughter-in-law, S. Amjad and Jennifer P. Habib, daughter and son-in-law, Zinat H. ( Beeb ) and Rick Benson; sisters Shamim Akber and Suryya Ikram and brother Safder Habib all of Pakistan, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family will hold a private burial service. Caroline Nicolosi, age 77 of Lenoir City passed away Saturday evening
March 11, 2000 at Park West Hospital. Jeannette was a member of the Lenoir
City Church of Christ, a Sunday School teacher for pre-schoolers and a
devoted Christian. She was a Loudon County business woman for many years.
Jeannette was also a teachers’ aide and cafeteria manager at Eaton
Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Bert
E. Boling. Parents, Michael and Caroline Nicolosi. Brothers, Sal and John
Nicolosi. Survivors: Children and spouses, Ed and Charlotte Boling , John
and Sue Boling , Carrie and Eddie Simpson, Michelle and Greg Samples all

Claire was a charter member of both the Woman’s Society of Christian Service and the United Methodist Women. She was a very active member of the Home Demonstration Clubs in both Mississippi and Tennessee. She and her husband, Ben were charter members of Trinity Methodist Church in Oak Ridge and long time members of Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. | Capen, Dr. Edward Kilbourne, age 76 of Lenoir City passed away Wednesday evening March 15, 2000 at U. T. Medical Center. She was a member of Bon Street Primitive Baptist Church, and a charter member and treasurer of Loudon County Association of Exceptional Citizens. Ide, Erwin
H. (Erv), age 84 of Knoxville, formerly of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and
Bay Village Ohio, passed away Friday evening March 17, 2000 at his home.
Erv attended St. John Neumann Catholic Church. He was retired from
Interstate United Food Service as a vice-president. He was an avid
woodworker, known to many, as the doll house man of Bay Village. Many of
his works of art were donated to St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Erv was
a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Air Corp., as a 2nd.
Lt. He had a great desire to help the poor, especially those being served
by the Baptist Community Center, in Western Heights in Knoxville. Erv
provided food to various charity organizations in the Greater Knoxville
area and was presented the Sertoma Club Humanitarian Service Award in
1993. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Walter Ide and
Charlotte Kuffner Ide. Sisters, Evelyn Ide Strough, Myra Ide Warren,
Dorothy Ide Benton. Brothers, Walter Ide, John Ide and Harold Ide. Erv is
survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Phyllis LeFaive Ide. Sons and

Clifford Marshall Sr., age 73 of Lenoir City passed away Saturday
evening March 18, 2000 at the Baptist Health Care Center. Clifford was a
member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He was a carpenter, and member of
Carpenters Local #50, for over 50 years. Clifford was preceded in death by
his parents, Marshall and Nellie Wear. Sister, Nola Wear Reagan. Brother,
James Wear. Survivors: wife of 50 years, Luvell Oliver Wear. Children and
spouses, Cliffreda and Al Hitch, Rita Gail and Charles Phibbs, Vicki and
Ron Curtis all of Lenoir City, Clifford Wear Jr. of Maryville.

A member of the Old Harp Shape Note Singers in Knoxville. A veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Navy. Retired from Martin Marietta, K-25 plant in 1993. A devoted husband and father. age 77 of Lenoir City, passed away early Saturday morning March 25, 2000
at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. Kenneth owned and operated
Mashbern Jewelers in Lenoir City for over fifty years. He was a Director
for the First National Bank. He was active in the Chamber of Commerce and
the Downtown Merchants Association for many years. Kenneth attended
Central United Methodist Church and the Volunteer Sunday School Class. He
was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Air Corp. Kenneth was
a member of Avery Lodge #592 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies, Eastern
Star #188, and was a 32 Degree mason. He was preceded in death by his
parents, P.A. and Inez Dodson Mashbern. Survivors: wife of 58 years,
Roberta Alford Mashbern. Daughters, Diane Nelson of Hampton Virginia,
Marcia Malin and husband Daryl of Lenoir City. Grandchildren, Howard R.

Leon E. age 78 of Lenoir City Tennessee, formerly of Lowell Indiana,
passed away Tuesday evening March 28, 2000 at Park West Hospital in
Knoxville. Leon was an ordained deacon and a member of Dixie Lee Baptist
Church. He was a member of Iron Workers Local #395 in Hammond Indiana. He
was a member of Chota Lodge #253 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies and a
32 degree mason. Leon was a veteran of World War II serving with the Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Thomas Pressley and Cordie
Seals Pressley. Sister, Georgia Pressley Lawson. Survivors: wife, Virginia

Wednesday morning, March 29, 2000 at his home after a long battle with
cancer. He was a member of Cornerstone Church of God. Retired from Texas
Utilities in Ft. Worth, Tx. He was a longtime resident of Arlington, Tx.
before moving to Tennessee after his retirement. Survived by his wife of

Mallie Summers, age 93 of Lenoir City, born September 12, 1906 passed
away Wednesday morning, March 29, 2000 at Park West Hospital. She was a
member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mallie was a talented woman who enjoyed
her flower gardens, her crafts and most of all her family. She was
surrounded in life as in death by her surviving 4 generations. Mallie was
preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Tilmon Maddox; parents,
Manford and Paralee Oaks Summers; four brothers, one sister; sons-in-law,
Arlis Edwards and Willard McNeeley; granddaughter, Connie Tallent Bass.
Survived by daughters and son-in-law, Audrey Edwards, Shirley McNeeley,
