Webb, Elizabeth Anna Smith, age 83 of Lenoir City, passed away early Thursday morning, March 1, 2001, at Loudon Hospital. Elizabeth was a member of Hensley Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. She attended and was a charter member of New Life Family Worship Center. Elizabeth was a graduate of Loudon High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Webb; parents, Claude and Cora Williams Smith; brothers, Edward Earl Smith and Sammie Avery Smith. | Fogarty, Peggy Jean Lawson age 72 of Knoxville passed away Friday morning March 2, 2001. Peggy was a graduate of Knoxville High School Class of 1946. He most recently attended White Wing Nazarene Church. He was a school bus driver in Roane Co. for over 30 years. Tom had also worked at Western Auto. God. He was a Sgt. with the U. S. Marine Corp for 16 years. James was
retired from Maremont Corp. He was preceded in death by parents, Fred
McKee and Synthia Lynn McKee Wright; sisters, Lela Powers; brother, Howard
Wright. Survivors: wife of 48 years, Henrietta Rodgers McKee; daughters,

| Luttrell, Milford Clifton (Bill), age 83 of Lenoir City entered eternal rest Thursday March 8, 2001 at his home. Bill was born in Roane County to parents Samuel Nelson Luttrell and Annie Scarbrough Luttrell who preceded him in death. He was a faithful member and Deacon of Highland Park Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for over 40 years and was Church Clerk and Trustee, until failing health forced him to give up the duties he loved. He retired from the Lenoir City Utilities Board in 1983 after 31 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of World War II. He is preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Ruth Diggs Luttrell; Brothers, Aubrey Deitz Luttrell, Ira Carroll Luttrell, Hubert Nelson Luttrell; Sisters, Mildred Georgia Luttrell Henry. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was a beautician for over 50 years. She was the operator of Katie’s Beauty Salon before she retired. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, Henderson and Mary Cardin; husband, Tousey Porter; sisters, Florence Peace and Arlene Hawkins; and a brother, Lee Cardin. | Nitzsche, Howard Edwin age 73 of Lenoir City went to be with his Savior Wednesday evening March 21, 2001 at Park West Hospital. Howard was a member and Deacon of Lighthouse Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and retired from the Department of the Navy as a civil servant. Howard was a foster parent for over 60 kids. Caitlin was a Senior at Farragut High School, voted Funniest for Senior Superlatives, a member of the Drama Club and the Y Teens. She was the Wellness Program Coordinator at the Haslam Center. Caitlin was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frederick Helms, Jack and Maryellen Stoker. Carlton, Aubrey Alvis,
age 93, of Lenoir City, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Fort Sanders Loudon Hospital after a brief illness. Well known as "Double A", he was a Baptist minister for half a century pastoring churches in the East Tennessee area , including Johnson City, Pigeon Forge, Maryville, New Market, Boyd's Creek, Rutledge, and Lenoir City, He was pastor for 19 years of Calvary Baptist Church, Lenoir City, and then served as Minister to the Senior Adults at Lenoir City First Baptist Church for ten years before his retirement from that position. He remained as Senior Adult Minister Emeritus of the church even during his two year residency at the Loudon Health Care Center. He was known for his singing ability as well as his preaching. He held a lifetime teaching certificate from the State of Tennessee and taught school in Maryville, Rutledge, at Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy, and in Lenoir City. He received a B.S. degree at age 45 from Carson-Newman College, Jefferson City. He served as Chaplain of Baptist Health Care Center in Lenoir City from 1980 - 1990. He was the 1996 Alumnus of the Year of Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy, and received several awards of recognition during his lifetime for his ministry to others. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Coleman Carlton, son and daughter-in-law Ellis and Caroline Carlton of Atlanta, GA; Daughters and sons-in-law are Carolyn and Joe Paul Harvey, and Joyce and Bobby Davis of Lenoir City. His grandsons and granddaughters-in-law are Bob and Laurie Carlton of Buford, GA, Michael and Cathy Carlton of Jonesboro, GA and Forrest and Laurie Davis of Lenoir City, His five great-grandchildren are Murphy, Payton and Hallie Carlton, and Autumn and Summer Davis. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Lenoir City with Rev. Dick DeMerchant and Rev. Edsel West officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in Lake View Cemetery. | Stephenson, James Franklin (Frank), 86, of West View Towers, Knoxville, TN, died at University of Tennesee Hospital on March 30, 2001, after a brief illness. He is predeceased by his parents, Ida Mae and Steve Stephenson, an infant son, a brother, Hub Stephenson of Knoxville, and a sister, Edna Childress of Knoxville. He leaves to grieve his passing, his loving wife of 64 years, Jeanne, a sister, Thelma Girandin of Knoxville, daughters, Jeanne Auxier of Knoxville, Mary Cannon of Savannah, GA, Lynne Wardley of Knoxville, and Frances White of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and a son, Frank Stephenson, Jr., of Savannah, GA, five grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. At his request, he will be cremated. A private memorial service will held at Click's Funeral Chapel on March 31, 2001. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Josephine Soward age 70 of Kingston, wife of Bill Guettner, passed
away Saturday evening March 31, 2001, at Park West Hospital. Josephine was
a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She was retired from E G & G
Ortec in Oak Ridge. Josephine was an avid musician and singer, playing
several instruments in a blue grass band for the last 18 years. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Exer Jenkins Soward. In
addition to her husband of 52 years survivors include; daughter and
son-in-law, Wanda and Russ Limburg; grandson, Nathan Limburg all of
Kingston; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Bernice Soward of Liberty
Indiana; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from
6-7:45 p.m. Monday followed by funeral services at 8 p.m. in the Click
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Henegar and Rev. Steve Taylor
officiating. Graveside services 11 a.m. Tuesday Poplar Springs Cemetery.
