Leslie was born May 23, 1916, in Gainesville Florida, to McKendree and Leola Sydboten McCook. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lenoir City. Leslie graduated from Knoxville High School and attended U.T. He was retired from International Mineral and Chemical Co. Leslie was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army in both the Pacific and European Theaters. Newman, Kirsten
Berg, age 32 of Farragut TN, died May 3, following her courageous battle with cancer. Kirsten's home is in Farragut, where she was a member of First Farragut United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Farragut High School, studied at MTSU, Florida Southern University, the University of Tennessee, and graduated from Roane State College in the School of Nursing. Kirsten was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Miles Goosmann II, and sister, Jenny Berg. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Newman, who is employed by Tennessee Air National Guard; 20 month old daughter, Emily Cottrell Newman; mother and step father Karen and Ronald Daves, brother Chip Daves, all of Farragut; father and step mother, Robert L. and Alyce Berg; brothers, Jacob and Jonathan Berg all of Clearwater, Florida; maternal grandmother Jeannette Cottrell of Farragut.. Walters, Delmar Andrew Jr. age 73 of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Coshocton ,Ohio, passed away Wednesday morning May 23, 2001, at his home. Del was born on February 5, 1928 in Canton, OH. He was a graduate of Coshocton High School where he played football. Del was a member of Concord United Methodist Church in Knoxville and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was retired from Allied Chemical and Dana Corp. in Knoxville. Del was a member of Hazel Park Masonic Lodge #570 F&AM in Hazel Park, MI. He was a veteran of the U S Air Force and was a World Champion Yo Yo Player. | Fritts, Leon Raymond - Age 75, of 405 E. Street, Lenoir City, passed away Friday evening May 25, 2001 at Park West Hospital. Leon was a member of Second Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy. Leon was a retired employee of Lenoir City Utilities Board. He was a member of Avery Lodge #593 F&AM, the Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies and Kerbela Shrine Temple. Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Granny) Fritts. Jr.- Age 74, of Hines Valley Rd., Lenoir City, passed away Saturday morning May 26, 2001 at Park West Hospital. Dan was a long time member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Grace Hicks of Seymour, Tn., and sons Larry Bruce Hicks of New York City and Daniel Adam Hicks III of Lenoir City. Ray Age 62 of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, May 25, 2001 at the
Parkwest Medical Center. He was a retired employee of Scovill; a veteran
of the U.S. Army and of the Baptist faith. Ray loved fishing, playing the
guitar and singing and he enjoyed life. He was preceded in death by his
mother, Anne Belle Manning; sister, Jearldean Huffstetler. He is survived
by his wife, Marjorie Manning; children: Mrs. Cheryl Moats and husband
Darrell of Knoxville, Mrs. Faye Wilson and husband Greg of Loudon;
grandchildren: Justin Moats of Knoxville, Brandi Coleman and Bree Jones of
Loudon; brothers: Max and Harold Manning of Maryville; Ron Manning of Rock
Hill, S.C.; sisters: Dorothy Cagley of Philadelphia, Tn. And Edith
Buchanan of Townsend; and father Bill Manning. Several neices and nephews

| Logan, Joe Vernon "Tubby" age 84 of Lenoir City died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, May 29, 2001. He was a life-long member of the Lenoir City Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and a 50 year member of Avery Lodge #593 F & AM. He was a veteran of World War II, serving his country in Africa and in Europe. He was a successful local business man, owner and operator of the Broadway Service Station until his retirement in 1972. He was preceded in death by his wife, Abbie Hull Logan, in 1987.
