Don was a member of Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. He was retired from Detroit Edison with 36 years of service. Don was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army. He was a member of the VFW in Northville Michigan, American Legion in Plymouth Michigan and the Elks Club in Plymouth Michigan. He was preceded in death by his step daughter, Jean Skinner. Brown, Christine Rosalee Bishop , born May 22, 1921, of Lenoir City and Pemmaquid Beach, Maine, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2000 at her home. She is survived by her husband, Donald V. Brown of Lenoir City and their son, Donald Brown, Jr., of North Hollywood, California. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Nelson and Margaret Bishop of Lenoir City, her sister Erma Nell Greene of Atlanta, GA; her sister Anna Mae Bishop of Lenoir City and brothers A. B. Bishop and Samuel Nelson Bishop, Jr., of Washington, D.C. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Christine was a graduate of Lenoir City High School and was s student at Knoxville Business College. During World War II, Christine was one of the first 100 WAVES in the U. S. Navy. During her assignment at the U.S. Navy Communications Intelligence Station in Washington, D.C., Christine received the Presidential Unit Citation Award for her outstanding contribution in computer analysis of German military messages. She has since researched, written and published 16 Family Histories and was working on the 17th. For more than 20 years, she has directed the research project Surname Index for the State of Maine Library. She is a published author and past Regent of the West Knoxville DAR Chapter. A memorial service will be held at the West Hills Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building, 400 Kendall Rd., Knoxville at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19th. Hands, Shirley Ann age 70 of the Tellico Village Community Loudon TN, formerly of Naperville Illinois and Clarendon Hills Illinois, passed away early Monday morning , October 23, 2000, at her home, surrounded by her loving husband and family. Shirley and Richard Hands moved to the Tellico Village Community in 1990, and immediately became involved in the church, and in the Tennessee spirit of volunteering. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City TN. Caring for others was her signature in life. She was a registered nurse for many years in the Chicago area. Her last position was Director of Nursing at Franciscan Friary in Oak Brook Illinois. Later, she volunteered at the Ft. Sanders Loudon Medical Center. As a care giver, she filled the lives of those she touched with hope and joy. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, William E. Devine and Genevieve Swift Devine. Huffstetler, Olvaleen Ray (Huffy) age 85 of Lenoir City, formerly of Blount County, passed away Saturday morning October 28, 2000 at Baptist Hospital. Huffy was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She was retired from Yale and Towne with 27 years of service. Huffy was preceded in death by her son, Don Huffstetler; parents, Hara and Lula Downey Ray; sisters, Willie (Bill) Ray and Helen Ray Baumgardner; brother, Earl Ray. survivors: husband of 67 years, Ray Huffstetler; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and James Moore of Maryville; daughter-in-law, Margaret Huffstetler of Lenoir City; grandchildren and spouses, Donna Stockton and Lisa Spoon both of Lenoir City; Gary and Donna, Larry and D J Moore all of Maryville; great grandchildren and spouses, April and Danny Graves, Chuck Easter all of Lenoir City; Whitney, Jennifer and Josie Moore all of Maryville; great great grandchildren, Colby, Amber and Danielle all of Lenoir City; sister, Montell Huffstetler of Ohio; brother, Raymond Ray of Florida; several nieces and nephews. Arnwine, Robert E., age 74 of Lenoir City, passed away suddenly Saturday evening October 28, 2000 at Loudon Hospital. Bob was retired from the Knoxville Fire Department as a Captain. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Navy. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Mary Annis Arnwine. Survivors: sons, Gary and Steve Arnwine both of Lenoir City; 5 grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Daniels of Ohio; cousin, Flossie Smith of Knoxville. Family and friends will gather at 1 P.M. Greenawalt, Orpha Louise age 78 of Farragut TN, formerly of Colonial Park, PA, passed away Monday afternoon October 30, 2000 at Park West Hospital in Knoxville, TN. Orpha was a member of Farragut Presbyterian Church. Survivors: devoted husband of 58 years, Bob Greenawalt; children and spouses, Cathy and Chuck Stichweh of Fayetteville, GA, Suzie and Taylor Dulaney of Knoxville, TN, Barbara Hess of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Bob and Sue Greenawalt of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Cheryl Stichweh Baker and husband Daryl, Chuck Stichweh and wife Lisa all of GA, Jim Dulaney and wife Lori of Knoxville, TN , Karen Dulaney Bunch and husband Mike of Kingsport, TN, Jennifer Hess of SC; 7 great grandchildren, Joshua, Johnathan and Jarod Baker, Riley and Tyler Dulaney, Taylor Bunch and Lauren Stichweh; sister, Ruth Worley of PA and several nieces and nephews. Rosenbalm, Minnie Townsend age 78 of West Knoxville, passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, October 31, 2000, in an automobile accident. Minnie was a member of Hines Valley Baptist Church. She was retired from the Court Café. Minnie was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest Townsend and William Rosenbalm.
