Obituary for Bobby Joe Kelly

Bobby Joe Kelly age 81 of Knoxville entered into the gates of Heaven on August 21, 2017. To all who knew my father, his love for the Lord and his family was what he lived for. Dad was steadfast in his religion and his belief that he would one day see my mother again. Dad’s life, being surrounded by 5 girls was filled with love, sadness, comedy, but most of all faith.

Countless times during his last 2 weeks, he told us he was ready to go be with the Lord. He said that his work here was done. During these last 2 weeks, as his body was preparing to leave, he and I developed a bond that can never be broken. As his daughter, I can say that I could not have had a better father or role model for my daughters or granddaughters. As much as he will be missed, we know he is in Heaven, and as he said about Mom, he finally knows what it’s all about. His love for God and church will be carried on with his 5 girls left behind. Countless nights my Dad spent praying as calls would come in, and he never lost faith that God would come for him when he was ready.

The following scripture sums my Dad and his life to perfection. Rest in peace Dad. You may be gone from us now but we will see you again. I love you forever.

“But our citizenship is in Heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” (Philippians 3:20-21.) Go be with the Lord and receive your much deserved reward. Bobby Joe was a member of Marble Hill Church of God and retired from BFI after 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Elaine Collins Kelly, parents, Joe and Jenny Tallent Kelly; brothers, Ray, J. B. and Jimmy Kelly. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Coaker of Knoxville; grandchildren, Hallysah Ibsen and Marlissah Hayes; great-grandchildren: Brooklynn Hayes, Emmalynn Ibsen and Allysah Ibsen; sisters, Betty Aikens and Edith Richardson; brother, Gene Kelly; several nieces and nephews.
