Obituary for Dr. Walter C. Shea, Jr.

Dr. Walter C. Shea, Jr. age 90 of Lenoir City passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 3:10 a.m. He served in the U. S. Army in Germany post W. W. II. Walter was a Colonel in the Tennessee Defense Corp. He began his career as an electrical engineer. Walter was a graduate of U. T. School of Medicine in Memphis, TN. His true love was helping people and he began practicing medicine in Lenoir City in 1961. He also served as Medical Director at Baptist Health Care Center for many years. Walter was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church and the Volunteer Sunday School Class. He was co-founder and board chair of Adult Community Training and a member of Rotary Club of Lenoir City. Dr. Shea served as team physician for the Lenoir City Panthers for many years and was later inducted into the Lenoir City Sports Hall of Fame. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. Shea, Sr. and Desta McGuire Shea. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice Heintzelman Shea; daughters and sons-in-law, Valois and Les Robinson of Lakewood, CO, Rebecca Ann Shea of Lenoir City, Wendy and Alan Messler of Greenback; grandchildren: Eliza Emily Albin, Carlton James Albin, Mason Shea Messler, and Blake Alan Messler; sister, Margaret Ann Bell of Las Vegas, NV and brother, Dr. David Shea of Knoxville. Friends may call at their convenience on Friday at Click Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 23rd at Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. A celebration of life will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Micah Nicolaus and Rev. Audrey Madigan officiating. A private interment will be held in Lakeview Cemetery with military honors conferred by Loudon Co. Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church or Adult Community Training. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City.
