Obituary for Edith Chumley Proffitt

Edith Annette Chumley Proffitt born into the family of Clayton and Ella Chumley of Tazewell, TN departed this earthly life on September 28, 2017 and moved into her Heavenly life. Edith had an enormous amount of friends and family. She was loved by everyone that knew her. Edith was of the Baptist faith and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Long Hollow Road where there was enormous love and compassion. She loved her flowers, pets, embroidering and quilting. Edith always loved spending time with her grandchildren, her brothers and sisters and also Leonard’s brother, Jimmie and sister, Mary Sue and their families. She had spent the latter years of her life at Baptist Health Care Center in Lenoir City. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Leonard Proffitt; two children: son, Jeffery Kent Proffitt and wife, Angie; daughter, Penny Lynn Denton and husband, Lee; grandchildren: Ashley, Tasha, Andrew, Tyler, Kellie, Ashley and Scott Denton; great-grandchildren: Lane, Trevor, Chance, Paige, David, Gabe and Jacob. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 30th at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Jack Hitch and Rev. Travis Chumley officiating. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home by 1:15 on Sunday and proceed to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery on Long Hollow Road in Blount County for graveside services at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baptist Health Care Center, 700 Williams Ferry Road, Lenoir City, TN 37771. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements.
