Freddie Jo Gardner age 74 of Lenoir City went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with colon cancer on February 8, 2017. She was born to Fred and Lois Liles on July 13, 1942. She married her sweetheart, George Gardner, on February 22, 1963. After their marriage, they lived in several different states, but always seemed to land back in Lenoir City. In 1974, she and George built their home on Buttermilk Road (aka Gardner County) where she remained until her death. She was and is considered the matriarch of Gardner County. Freddie Jo was a Godly woman and instilled those values throughout her entire family. Her marriage, children, and grandchildren defined her greatest accomplishment. She was a charter member of Kingston Pike Baptist Church where she saw each and every member of her family accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and witnessed each one of them go thru the baptismal waters.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lois Liles; sister, Myrtle Esther Liles Strunk; father and mother-in-law, George A and Lucille Gardner; granddaughters, Cassie Jo and Patricia Gay Gardner.
