Obituary for James (Jimmy) Self

James (Jimmy) Self age 60 of Lenoir City passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Jimmy had been a client with ACT (Adult Community Training) ever since it was founded. He loved to be out in the community, loved all sports and loved his Tennessee Vols. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lyle and Ruth Vincil Self; sister, Jo Ann Glass, and niece, Lisa Shubert. Survived by his sister, Peggy Dyer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Belinda Self, Mike and Marsha Self; caregiver and niece, Kimberly (Shubert) Underwood, nieces and nephews, Karen (Ed) Whitney, Bill Dyer, Buddy (Whitney) Dyer, Pam Dyer, William Self, Mindy (Self) Hurst, John (Elizabeth) Self, and Katy (Russell) Hammac; many great nieces and great nephews. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Ms. Birdie Hill for the care she gave Jim when he was in the companion home with her and his house mate, Billy Wallace. Also a special thank you to all of the staff at Walnut Street Med Home, for the care they gave Jimmy, also the staff at Open Arms Northshore, and all of the friendships that have developed. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 8th at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Tony Thomas officiating. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home by 9:30 Saturday morning and proceed to Lakeview Cemetery for 10 a.m. graveside services. Serving as pallbearers: Buddy Dyer, William Self, John Self, Jerry Rolon, Jimmy Rolon, and Daniel Schleben. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Jimmy to Loudon County Special Olympics. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements.
