There are condolences waiting approval on James's Tribute wall
Obituary for James Kyle Johnson

James Kyle Johnson age 66, of Lenoir City. We would like everyone to know that his deployment to Earth is complete. After giving twenty years of military service, he retired to his hometown of Lenoir City to raise a family. But on the morning of October 10, 2017, James received his final mobilization orders, which no good soldier can refuse, for a mission from which he will not return. His struggle with cancer, Parkinson’s…….and the shame of Vietnam is complete. Up, up, and away!

He is preceded in death by his parents: James Vonnie Johnson and Mildred Louise (Bivens) Johnson; sisters: Alice Louise Johnson, Patricia Ann Lyles, and Phyllis Jean Holland; brothers: Gary Lynn Long and James Gordon Johnson.

James leaves behind a loving family including: Lillian Alice Needham Johnson, his devoted wife of 518 months and their two daughters: Amanda Kae (Ryan) Evans and Alice-Marie Louise (Scott) Wallace. Grandson: Nathan Wallace. Sisters: Inez (Bobby) Dolan, Alma Moses, Sarah McCown, and Linda (Bud) Harris. Brothers: Orthell Johnson and Thomas D (Norma) Johnson. Superhero Brothers (in-law): Ralph (Priscilla) Huskin, Calvin (Rhonda) Needham and Dale (Bonnie) Needham. Numerous nieces and nephews including his pal, “Cal” boy.

The family wishes to thank the University of Tennessee Medical Center Hospice Services, especially Renee who worked tirelessly to make James comfortable in his final days. Also, the VA Medical Centers in Knoxville and Johnson City where he loved his oncologist, Dr. Rogers, and the nurses who kept him laughing at even the worst moments. We are so grateful for your extraordinary efforts that gave us the extra time we needed to find closure.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 12th from 5 pm to 7 pm at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. Family and friends will gather at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 13th at East Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery at 2200 East Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville for graveside services with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Good Samaritan in Lenoir City https://goodsamloudoncounty.org/ where he and his wife worked tirelessly to help those less fortunate. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements.
