Lois Shewski (née Brown), of Loudon (Tellico Village), TN, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the age of 88.
Lois was born to parents Steven and Effie Brown on October 14, 1928 in Kansas. She attended Bremen High School (IN). In 1948, she married Walter Shewski while attending Purdue University. Lois and Walter had four children who they lovingly raised in the Chicago area suburbs. In 1974, Lois finished her teaching degree at Northeastern University. In 1989, Lois and Walter retired to Tellico Village, where Lois was very active socially in the community for over 25 years.
Family and friends were Lois' passion and delight, in addition to being an avid world traveler, especially ocean cruises. She enjoyed cooking and experimenting with new recipes, making people happy with her meals.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Matuszak; her sons, Michael, John and Thomas; her sisters, Elaine Glover and Jean Simmons; four granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter (after nearly 50 years of marriage); her parents; and her sisters, Fern Bartruff and Irene Brown.
