Obituary for Margaret T. Smith

Heaven gained a great lady today. Margaret T. Smith went home to her heavenly family, June 28, 2018. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her children and chihuahuas. She was born Margaret Todd on September 19, 1923 in Scott County TN in the small town of Robbins. In the early 40’s, as a young independent woman she answered the call to work at The Secret City and do her part for the Manhattan project. She worked at the Y12 plant but eventually found her passion in the service industry. Her last job was the Dinner Bell Restaurant in Lenoir City where she enjoyed her customers for 26 years until she was 85. She reluctantly retired when the restaurant closed its doors.

Margaret’s greatest passion was her children and her chihuahua’s. Not always in that order, depending on who she was the most frustrated with at the time. She was a strong willed, hardworking single mother that gave her all for her children. She loved doing any activity that surrounded her with her children such as family birthdays, picnics and UT football games. Her love of children was so great that in the early years she cared for numerous foster children.

She was met in Heaven by her father, Harley Robbins; mother, Lena Todd Jeffers; brothers James Calvin (JC), Harley and Reidon Robbins and her babies, Jeffery and Diana.
She is survived by son, Roger Smith and wife, Linda; daughter, Brenda Smith and partner, Carol; son, Jason Smith and partner, Selena; grandchildren, Dylan, Elijah, and Alex.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 30th at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Click officiating. Private graveside services will be held at Todd Family Cemetery, Scott County.
