Obituary for Margery Grace Granat

Margery Grace Granat, age 100, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. She was a resident at the Lantern at Morning Pointe in Lenoir City.

Margery was born in Richmond, Vinginia, but lived most of her adult life in Southern California. She retired after 22 dedicated years working for the government at The Long Beach Naval Shipyard in California. She was an inspiration to all and will be remembered for her love of life and her keen sense of humor. She was thrilled, as well as blessed, to have been able to celebrate her 100th birthday party last September with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Edna See; beloved husband of 51 years, Matthew F. Granat; son, Ronald L. Granat; granddaughter Angela M. Schulze and Bill Cavanaugh, her companion of 8 years.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marge and Rich Planzo of Tellico Village; granddaughter and husband, Andee and Tom Avery; grandson and wife, Rich A. and Kelly Planzo; 3 great-grandchildren McKenna and Payton Avery and Ryan Schulze.

We would like to thank the Lantern at Morning Pointe and Amedisys Hospice of Sweetwater and their staff for their loving care and thoughtfulness given to Margery and her family.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
