Obituary for Opal Price White

Opal Price White age 82 of Friendsville. The family announces with great sadness the passing of Opal Katie Ellen Price White on Thursday, September 21, 2017. She has left her earthly home to spend eternity in Heaven. She was of the Baptist faith. Opal’s first career was as a beautician. At the tender age of 50 she attended and graduated from Roane State Nursing School as a registered nurse. Throughout her life she exhibited a commitment to serve and nurture others. With a husband who is U. S. Army retired with 20 years of service, she desired to help other veterans. Opal worked at the Veterans Clinic in Knoxville to fulfill this mission. She also worked at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Opal loved traveling across the country and traveling abroad with her husband, Lewis. Married for 63 years, the love, support and dedication for each another is everlasting. Other hobbies included family time, Lady Vols basketball, Tennessee football, boating, fishing and beach trips with the grandchildren. The family will miss the most her unending love, commitment to her family, encouraging words and special times with her. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia White; sons, Michael White, David White, James White, and parents, Samuel Price and Ethel Mae Hutsell Price; brothers, Clyde and Liege Price. Survived by her husband, Lewis E. White; daughter, Barbara Amburn and husband, Al; grandchildren: Stacie Barth (Drew), Kristen Amburn, Makaila Amburn, Heather Poston (Josh), Michael White (Shalana), Amanda White, James White (Rebecca), Dustin White, Sarah White Brown; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, James Price (Jenny) and Edward Price (Joyce); several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2- 4 p.m. Sunday September 24th, at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Matt Cannon officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11:30 a.m. Monday morning in the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway, Knoxville for graveside services and interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Pat Summitt Foundation, 520 W. Summit Hill Drive, Suite 1101, Knoxville, TN 37902. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street in Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements.
