Obituary for Paul C. Clark Sr.

Paul C. Clark Sr., age 91 of Kingsport, our precious dad, passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning, June 15, 2018. Paul was born in Lenoir City, Tennessee to Charles and Minnie Clark on April 5, 1927. He had lived at Margie’s Meadow at Village of Allandale for the last 6 months and was so happy living there. Paul had previously lived in Surgoinsville and most recently, Kingston and Rogersville before moving to Kingsport. Paul never met a stranger and in his later years was always singing wherever he went. He was a true ‘renaissance man’ and was very knowledgeable about everything, especially geography and history. Golf was a passion for him and he enjoyed many rounds of golf and was always looking for a better golf club to improve his score. Paul was a member of First Baptist Church of Surgoinsville. He graduated from Lenoir City High School and attended Tennessee Tech and then served in the United States Navy in the Philippines during World War II. Paul was employed as a shift engineer for 33 years with TVA, primarily at Widows Creek, Kingston Power Plant, and John Sevier Steam plant. After retirement he did consulting work in West Palm Beach, Florida; Strasburg, Pennsylvania, and Lynchburg, Virginia. Paul was married to Doris Rose Clark for 68 years before she passed in 2016. Surviving Paul is son, Paul C. Clark, Jr. and wife Alice of Kingsport, son, Phil Clark and wife Vivian of Harriman and daughter, Susan Clark Ertunga of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, William Paul Clark, wife Selina; and very special great-grandson, Levi William Clark; grandson, Matt Clark of Tampa, Florida; granddaughter, Erin Ertunga of Birmingham, Alabama; step-grandchildren, Joseph Davenport, wife Anna Marie and daughter Bianca of Chattanooga; Josh Davenport, wife Kimberly and daughter Olivia of Birmingham and Jeremiah Davenport of Cleveland, Ohio.
