Obituary for Jimmy "Gut" Allen Reynolds

After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Jimmy Allen ‘Gut’ Reynolds, 80, of Lenoir City, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, May 5th at The Lantern at Morning Pointe in Lenoir City. Jimmy was a National Guard Veteran, a long-time member of First Baptist Church Lenoir City, a member of Masonic Avery Lodge # 593, and a member of The Shriners International. Jimmy was a life-long resident of Lenoir City and graduated from LCHS before attending TTU. He worked at K-25 in Oak Ridge for 12 years before pursuing a 20 year long career at Maremont in Loudon.
Jimmy was a wonderful husband, a fantastic Dad, and an exceptional Pop who will be missed for his sense of humor, selflessness, and compassion for others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Annie Reynolds, brother Bobby Reynolds, daughter Kathy Gardner, and parents-in-law, Arnold & Mary Judd.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Reynolds, son Allen Reynolds & wife Sherrie Reynolds, daughter Deborah Reynolds, his 8 grandchildren; Lindsay Gardner, Shelby & Trevor Reynolds, Morgan Reynolds, Mallerie Reynolds, Heather Newman, Anthony Chrisman, and Chelsey McCoy, and his 14 great-grandchildren. Jimmy is also survived by his long-time best friend and ‘brother’ G.L. Hall.
Receiving of friends will be held at First Baptist Church Lenoir City, 2085 Simpson Road, Lenoir City, on Tuesday, May 8th from 5-7pm with services following immediately after.
The family would like to thank the loving staff at The Lantern at Morning Pointe in Lenoir City for their great care of Jimmy. Because of Jimmy’s desire to help others, his body has been donated to help further the research of Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Due to this, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or First Baptist Church Lenoir City in his name.
