Obituary for Bettye Jean Stafford Lindsey

Bettye Jean Stafford Lindsey of Lenoir City, born May 30, 1932, in Chattanooga, TN went to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 8, 2018. She moved to Cave Creek as a young girl and then to Lenoir City. Bettye was a graduate of Lenoir City High School. She married William (Bill) Reed Lindsey, Sr. on July 21, 1950. Bettye worked at Bank of Loudon County where she became Branch Manager/Officer. She was a very talented artist and created many beautiful paintings and ceramic pieces. She was a loving mother and grandmother. A member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City and Alpha Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Sorority. Bettye loved her family and friends. She cherished her beautiful granddaughters, Kendall and Kristen and especially loved their annual family vacation to Hilton Head Island every summer. A special thanks to the following: niece, Juanita “Sissy” Guider and her husband Benny Wayne Guider, nephew, Richard Maples and his wife, Jay Ann, niece, Karen Tindell, for their love and support. To the staff of Westmoreland Health and Rehab for their love and care; and to Bettye’s special buddies at Westmoreland, LaMuriel Smothers (Suzanne’s mom) and Olean Robinson (Suzanne’s aunt) for always being their for her. Bettye’s beloved friends, (The Golden Girls) that met weekly for dinner and unwavering friendship. Preceded in death by parents, James and Bessie Cook Stafford; sisters, Edna Blackburn, Ursa Brown, Johnnie McNabb and Sue Hawkins; daughter, Vicki Jean Lindsey; granddaughter, Christen Marie; and husband of 56 years, William R. “Bill” Lindsey. Survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William “Reed” Lindsey, Jr. and Suzanne S. Lindsey; granddaughters and the love of her life, Kendall and husband, Andrew Keith of Knoxville and Kristen and husband, Mike Minor of Arlington, TX; great-granddaughters, Stella Marie Minor and Ava Monroe Minor and Olivia Jean Keith along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 11th at Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Dick DeMerchant officiating. Family and friends will gather by 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Click Funeral Home and proceed to Lakeview Cemetery for graveside services at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Lenoir City Building Fund in Bettye’s memory. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City is serving the family of Bettye Lindsey.
